91 FJ80 3FE A440F gearbox slips when shifting 2nd to 3rd (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, my father has a 91 FJ80 US spec 80 series. I has the 3FE and A440F gearbox. When driving, the vehicle will revv up when shifting from. 2nd to 3rd. It seems like it “slips” for a second, and the revs come up, and then it “catches” 3rd gear and holds. Haven’t experienced any slipping any other times other than the shift from 2 to 3.
I am looking into if the kick down cable needs to be adjusted.. any tips on this would be greatly appreciated. The vehicle has about 180 miles on it. As far as I know, the transmission has only HD guild changes, never a full service.
I know there are some extremely experienced guy on here, hoping someone can give me a hand.

Hi, We have a 1991 . Try cable adjustment or replace. Clean transmission filter and change fluid. If this doesn’t work ,well...try this first. Mike

When adjusting the kick down cable, make very small adjustments (+- 1mm) at a time and test drive.
