Have you looked into a cruise control kit yet?

The only ones I know of for the Gen IV motors are from Spanky's Rod Shop and Rostra.

I've got the Rostra kit, and made an initial (unsuccessful) install attempt, but haven't had time to dig into it.

I was going to look into the Rostra Kit

A little progress. Installed the front range kit. A word of warning, if anyone decides to get the kit there is an extra plate about 3mm thick. I was told to direct the spacer toward the diff. It created a spacing problem with the caliper and rotor. Otherwise very happy. Also prepping the 80 series rear for a rebuild. Let me know if you all have any words of wisdom

The FROR brake kit widens the front end about 1.5" right?

If so that matches the 80 rear width just about. Good call on the 80 rear, I'm a big fan of that mod.

You will need an 80 series parking brake cable.

Any wheels with less than ~5.5" of backspacing are going to stick out and look funny. I run the Tacoma base model steel wheels, they look pretty good and are spaced nicely relative to the side of the truck. I THINK FJ Cruiser wheels have the same backspacing as Tacoma but I'm not sure on that.

I hope so that is what I got

Got the perches welded on today(thanks cruiser matt) the donner axel measure 88 degrees and others have done 90, so I set them at 89. I started to weld on the sway bar brackets but I am worried about the diff being in the way. I decided to wait until I could get 62 axel pulled and fit correctly.

You make it sound like I actually did something :)

How did the fit-up look?

i am tempted to leave the color freeborn red, any input is appreciated. on a side note, i have tract down just about everything i need and plan on diving into the engine conversion next week.

Leave it red!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you leave it red, would you still repaint it?

Did you ever find the parts for the steering u-joints? I need to do that at some point.

does anyone have the part number for the u-joints for the steering column. my is very worn.

I know the part number.

:)

There is no part number technically. It is non-sourced. You have to buy the whole internediate shaft to get a new ujoint (which is why the intermediate shaft is over $250 with discount).

That said, luckily I traced down and compared it with a Corolla AWD driveshaft ujoint and it is the same size, technically. Whether it fits or not, IDK since I just went ahead and replaced the intermediate shaft while I was at it.

:meh:

I think you'd be crazy to change the red - one of the best stock 60 colors IMHO (not counting white and dune beige!)

That said, its your truck and 60's look great in virtually any color!

Enjoying the build, keep us posted.

Red is a nice color but I'm sure it's going to be a tuff decision. Your build is coming along nicely and that motor looks awesome. On your 80 axle, what size perches did you install and where did you get them from? Looking to do that same set up in the future...keep up the good work....gil
