A small bit of tech for those doing a V8 swap. If you plan on using a gen4 motor the heater coolant loop is designed to be open all the time. Now in a 60/62 that is not possible when it is hot. if you retain the rear heater you could leave that valve open all the time but if you don't i would recommend installing a by pass loop. I have put about 15k miles on my truck since the conversion and noticed about a 15 degree difference if i had the heater valve open or not. Granted my truck ran within the limits of GM guidelines either way but i installed a by pass loop yesterday. I did a 5 hr trip today through the mountains in KY. The typical temp was 190-193 and about 200 when stopped in traffic as opposed to 202-207 and about 213 stopped in traffic. (Thanks Cam for the tip). Just thought i would pass along the info.
