I always heard,"Chicks dig scars" too. 🙄 I'm an ex hockey player, skier, mountain biker, 2 motorcycle crashes and 15 surgeries in so far. So I don't buy it. Doesn't offset fugly I guess. 🤣

I had to make this truck nice or my wife won't ride with me. Plus it's my first paint job so it's good practice for when I do my 52 F3. 👍

I'm glad you guys are still with me through the most boring part of my build.

The older I get, the more I appreciate wide open wheeling areas, like Moab (never been). Especially after having the xtracab painted…. The idea of body damage gives me hives.

I've accepted that scrapes and dents are inevitable. I won't wheel trails where there's no way to avoid turning it into a raisin. I'm really hoping I don't roll it right after getting it back on the trails. THAT would REALLY suck. 😩

I've considered an exo cage but it's ugly and I may as well have a buggy. I'm not a young maniac anymore but $hit still happens.

You guys getting nervous are getting me nervous so stop it. 😬

I had PT today and watched a couple grandkids but I got a little time for the truck.

I decided to try to get the Rhino Liner off the tailgate cover. I used a razor knife and cut the edges off that roll over the sides. I managed to get under it and slowly work it off. Once I had enough to grab the tug of war was on. Still hung on there tight for being about 25 years old.

I applied some paint stripper. It's 102, dry and breezy right now so I have to cover it with plastic. It'll dry out if I don't and this stuff is about $80/gallon. It DOES kick a$$ though. I'll sand it tomorrow.

That’s impressive. The only experience I have with removing liner was a bumper. It didn’t come off nearly that complete.

@bkg, Maybe because this was the old rubbery Rhino Liner from way back. Late 80's -early 90's?? My pressure washer got under it and separated it from the body on some other parts so I gave it a shot. It wasn't easy. Definitely took some time and effort.

I typically use a kitchen trash bag - or multiple for larger parts. Coat the piece, drop it in the bag, wait... A lot of the time much of it slides off in the bag and then you can just throw the whole mess in the trash.

Wow that's a bit harsh.
I think it comes down to the trails you run. Although not quite a raisin I have a lot of trail dents, I would like to think I'm a good driver and not a retard

Lots of places to get dents in Moab, ask me how I know 😂

body damage is inevitable if you actually wheel. having absolute disregard is just dumb is what im saying. if you're wheeling somewhere body damage is unavoidable, build a buggy.

my statement comes from watching marlin, bundrant and others wheel clean rigs on very tough trails without smashing them.
i didn't mean to hurt your feelings. :flipoff2:

I wheeled with Marlin in both Moab & the Sierras. He was a great man and a great driver.
I think he fix the dents he got right away as it was representing his business !
Big Mikes truck is also spot Less

My feeling aren't hurt :flipoff2:I wheel some of the most technical trail out there in my fat a** 80 right next to the mini truck 4runner guys !

Now back to our regular programming

If I ever get this truck done and make it out to Cali to wheel with @Broski I have NO DOUBT I'll get some dents. Not that I want dents after all this work. Hopefully none on the top of the roof!
