81 Toyota Diesel 2wd becoming 4x4 with landcruiser axles and dual t-case

Tinkered with it last night and was able to determine the alt. is charging.Turns out the positive cable from the battery to the alt is highly deteriorated.I ran a heavy gauge jumper and the lights went out.After starting it a few times everything seems to be working properly.But I will be happy to keep the alt. stocked in the shop till I may need it!

Does that motor bolt directly to the four wheel drive trans or do you need an adapter or different bell housing.

You must have a different bell housing.It is specific to the diesel engine.Starter is on the opposite side compared to the gasser
Top is a gasser,bottom left is a 4x4 diesel,bottom right is a 2wd diesel

i am wanting to put cruiser axles under my 1st gen and am trying to figure out drive shaft flange stuff. Do the cruiser flanges work with minitruck drive shafts or did you have to do something else?

Just had to drill the 80's flanges to match the mini truck yoke.And I'm thinking it was just the rear,seems like the front mated up.

Thanks.Been daily driving the landcruiser since the day I bought it.Never missed a beat,I love it!I got a 90 model cummins truck as a donor for a cummins swap but I've been putting it off cause it's kinda hard to take apart a perfectly good running cruiser.It'll happen soon.Single digit fuel mileage is not fun.Know any one needing a cruiser good drivetrain?I'd sell it cheap!
