Man good project. One concern from the pics I see is on the rear where the upper link mounts are. That looks like a lot of leverage on that frame tube. Those tubes aren't very thick-just trying to help look for weak links man.

Thanks for the constructive criticism.I hadn't given that much thought.Wonder if putting a tube through that one would make it much better.Or if making a gusset or some sort of brace off the frame would be better. But you got me thinking.Don't want that to fail on the trail.

Got alot done this weekend.Fuel tank plumbed and mounted also got the power steering setup.Didn't get the hydro assist done.Back to the drawing board there.I couldnt get the 10" ram mounted so I guess I will have to settle with an 8" ram.But the good news is after setting for as long as it has plus having the entire fuel system removed it started up quite easily, even though is was a bit cold and the battery was tired. They don't make em like this anymore!!The 4.70 gears and dual cases make for some serious gearing.Just playing around and pulled it on some tires.

Great build! I love the super skinny tall tires. It looks almost natural on them. I have a 1KZ-te in 87' SAS 4runner. I am planning to use the FJ-80 axles also. Can't wait to here how it does on the trail.

Killer build! Can't wait to see it finished. You going to come down to GSMRT this year? As for the ram you can always shim a longer ram to shorten the throw if I'm not mistaken. Keep it up definitely unique! Don't see that too much with the cookie cutter toy builds. Not that there is anything wrong just don't see stuff like this.

Thanks,I think.

Its close to being driveable and enjoyable but will never really be "done".I don't know what GSMRT is?The ram is basically just to large to fit behind the axle.I fooled around with trying to mount it off the frame to the tie rod up front(not ideal I know)but it just didn't jive.

GSMTR is the Great Smoky Mountain Trail Ride. It is in May at Windrock Offroad Park just north of Knoxville. Probably be close to 200 rigs this year with several thousand acres of trails. Week long event with a raffle on Friday night. Good times.

Ok gotcha, should have figured it was some sort of wheeling event. But I don't have a trailer for my rig.Never needed one.I do all my riding on a nearby hunting club. It's 2 miles from my house and has 65,000+ acres to play on.Pretty awesome but I'm the only person that wheels it.Man it would be nice to go with a group:hhmm:

Sounds like we need to come to WV sometime. :steer: And I am sure you can find some local WV guys that will be coming over for GSMTR. Check out the clubhouse section to see about hooking up with some of them sometime.

Yeah it's thanks. It's just cool to see an out of the box toy build. Not many around. Hard to build a toyota someone hasn't yet.

Set the bed on

Got a lot of trimming to do. Pre-runner stance going on. Gonna have to bring the nose down an inch and the rear up an inch or two.

Thanks zombie,Bring your toyota diesel and we will smoke up the trail!!

wv_lx450 I wired up the elockers already using a wiring diagram I found online,I will post a pic.It works slick too!Got them wired separately so I can lock the front or rear independently.Has relays to keep from damaging the electric motor and a light to indicate locked position.

Can't wait to wheel this beast. Not much left to do.Gotta swap out some stiff coil springs for lighter weighted ones up front.Fix a damn stuck caliper and hook up my ebrake. Then its time for the maiden voyage.I will post plenty of pics

Wow amazing build. What's the width on those tires? Looks really, really nice and stout.

Thanks, the tires are 38x11x16.Stout was the plan.I don't want to worry about stuff breaking

Got the hydro assist ram mounted, plumed and working. It's nice to be able to turn the wheels while stopped!Although its not the best setup it seems to work

Trimmed the front fenders before

after

Work in the cab.keeping it simple

Got some softer spring rates up front, brought it down a little so I had to trim the fenders more.

Measuring for bump stops and limit straps

Front is able to flex a bit more now with the new springs and I am able to turn lock to lock even with all the weight on the nose thanks to the hydro assist

Rear is decent also

Overall I'm pretty happy with it.Need to load up for a shake down run!!
