Brought back some parts from the states. It's amazing how much you spend on the little things.... Even today, found 4 more parts that I need for completion.

The tubular spare tire SS bolt kit from CCOT was incorrect since it did not contain the 4 m10x1.25 bolts for the upper hanger. These are the most difficult to find unless you buy them from the UK. They are looking into it so we'll see what happens.

Got the air cleaner on, found out the horns are dead, Emblems on, headlights on but blowing the fuse.... I managed to sell the tires so some km2's are on the way, probably by the end of the month.

BLING BLING!

Common ccot refrain, sadly. The rig is looking great mate!

Cruiser Dan is fantastic and sent stuff to me in Australia without batting an eye. Even with shipping it was still half the price of the Aussie equivalent.

Well I'm not sure it's ccot's fault on this one. They are saying that the spare tire carrier (tubular) is held on by m8 x 1.25 bolts, and have tested them on their truck. My top hinge is m10 x 1.25 x 25. I can find the bolts in plated steel but not in stainless.

Can anyone confirm this? that the top hinge bolts are indeed m10 x 1.25 pitch? Would it be a Canadian thing? or a diesel thing? seems unlikely to me.. Unfortunately I'm in Calgary right now and have now way of checking...

Upper bolts are M10 and lower are M8 on my all stock BJ42 from 1981.

Thanks Kevin! You got me thinking of cruise Moab 2014...

Now the quest continues to find stainless m10x 1.25..... anyone know of a source in Canada? I've tried most places between Montreal and Ottawa. They seem to be available in the UK at 5$ a bolt....

Agreed (not just because Kevin said it either). Although your tub does not have the rounded bottom rear corners like most '81s I've seen, my '83 fj40 and '84 fj40 were m10. Ccot refused to stand by their stuff with me too. I'll never use them again. From my experience with them, John McClung is only out for himself and does not seem to really care about customer support.

Try McGuckin Hardware in Boulder, Co. It is the most amazing hardware store on the planet. I grew up thinking that was the normal hardware store.... boy was I disappointed everywhere else. When I lived in Australia they would ship stuff to me that I could not find elsewhere. https://store.mcguckin.com/inet/home.html

Thanks for that info. I have gone as far as to contact bolt manufacturers here in Canada and SS metric fine thread is possible, but by batch only. It was actually easy to just order from the UK.

CCOT will process my return as a regular return so by the time I pay shipping and the restocking fee, It would cost me money to give them bolts.... I see it as their responsibility to stand behind what they describe as a product. I would give them a mulligan if they acknowledge that they didnt know there was a difference between cruisers, but they do not seem interested enough to make it right. It's a good thing since it's keeping guys like Kurt, Steve and Cdan in business.

Nice!!! Think you're going to get it on the road this summer? I'm still on my burn out but feel like I should be able to get back at it in a few weeks.

Dunno when... seems like the months are already flying by...... Might put some time in the end of june. all I'm missing is hood pads and paint for the bezel to be able to drive it topless, which myight be whant happens. the roof requires a few days of work for sure.

Thanks to Steve at EBI, I now have what seems to be a solid vacuum tank. I will clean it up then see if it needs repairs.

Let me know if you need a hand! Or maybe swing by for some inspiration....!!!

Andy, you might want to look at http://www.cruisercorps.com/ for the hood pads. That's where I got mine. Service was good, the price are ok and they've got a 10% discount for MUD members right now. Time to spend a little more money :)

Thanks. tires are 33x10.5 15 bfg mt km2's. I think you're asking if i used chrome 60 series rims, to which the answer is no. I bought these rims from Steve at EBI which are oem 40 series rims. Then had them blasted and painted.

You can still get oem white wagon wheels from toyota, 180$ or so each in the states.
