Probably not. I still have a lot of details for the time available right now. I was debating with the at's but then figured what the hell, just get what I want.

To make things worse, I grounded out the light switch on the fuse block while trying to install it. Now the WB ground wire is fried in the loom.... Not quite sure how far back, but I may have to take it our of the truck... Looks like the surrounding wire may have survived.:bang:

Those tires are dangerously slippery on wet roads and snow on road.

Nope. I ran out to Banff and back on Sunday evening in heavy rain and standing water at 120km/h and felt very planted. They are also rated 8 or 9 out of ten in snow. I'm not sure why people keep saying stuff like that about these tires. They had insane traction on the rocks in Moab and impressed more than a few of my fellow RMLCA members on a recent very muddy trail.

Ice. Ice is the only low rated surface for this tire. But if you can't drive on ice then don't.

The original BFG MT's I had were pretty horrid in snow/rain. I actually really like the BFG MT KM2's though. My experience is they're very quiet on the highway (when compared with my old BFG MT's), they get decent grip on all sorts of surfaces, and they're good in the rain. I don't do a lot of snow driving due to the road salt but running around my yard/driveway I haven't had much issue.

If you find them too slippery in the rain you can always get them sipped.

I would have liked the old mt's, or even goodyear's old mt for a more classic look. However, these look knarly! cant wait to try them.

As for the wiring, I got lucky. The only wire that fried went from the light switch to the fuse block ground. I wont have to pull out the loom!!!!

It's been awhile! But, rest assured, I have been puttering away at the cruiser. Hitting a deer with the Tacoma was not fun, especially just before our vacation. It was nice to get away thought!

So, I got lucky and replacing the fried wire was easy. just a ground from the light that illuminates the light switch. Other than that, I have noticed that the body shop did not seam seal the outside of the windshield frame. Sucks, but I will try 3m flexiclear and see how it goes. If it has to come of later, than so be it. It's on order with the weatherstrip adhesive. Other than that, the windshield is ready to go.

Got my vacuum can from Steve at EBI. No holes, even after blasting! I got 2 coats of por 15 on it and it's bracket, as well as the bumperettes. They will be pewter, but I just don't want to deal with more rust...

I'm really liking the stainless hardware on the gray. looks like understated functional bling. Got the hood on too.

Super blasting setup.... I finaly figure out that using a smaller tip works the best. I can blast for 10-15 minutes at a time before I give the compressor a break.

Steve's vac tank. I'm glad he sold it to me!

Oh, and thanks to dbradford for passing on his 24v horns. Sounds great!!

So there was no seam sealer applied to the outer windshield frame prior to paint. Bummer, but I found a work around called flexiclear by 3m. Went on easy, but it skins quick so be sure to get it right on the first pass. Looks not too bad!

Then I plugged the wiper motor in, but it would not work. I guess the degreaser jammed it up. Pretty easy fix, and now works like a champ!

Nice work Ambrew.

Love seeing all the photos.

I got the turn signal from Kurt awhile back. they are the Japanese "high quality" aftermarket. If I were to get them again, I would have gone Toyota. Not that these are bad, but I needed to re wire them for the bj42. Not quite sure if these would be plug and play for a fj40, but they definitely weren't for the 42.

Took the better part of 2 hours just to sort it out. Now the turn signals are acting wonky but I wont trouble shoot it until I get a replacement bulb.

Baby's got new shoes!!!

Nice project brother...

I have gone thru the thread and admire your skills in the workshop.
Currently I am nearing end(hopefully) of my FJ40.

I like the white color of your rims, if you don't mind can you give me the color code of this particular white.
Thanks.

Looking good Andy. I need to pop by and see it person. Might give me the motivation to get back to mine ;)

Hey Andy, after the 17th works for me and I'll bring the seam sealer gun with me. BTW I worked on my 40 last night. Also came up with a things to do before start up list, so I've got some motivation again :)

Good to hear. I am taking it one part at a time. Usually goes like this: Find part, decide it needs work, slight discouragement depending on how much there is to do, get it done, install, take it off to fix something related, install for good, satisfaction.

I like your list idea, i admit my thoughts get scattered easily. I'll be in touch when I'm back.

Summer, it seems, is not the best time to get anything done on the land cruiser. However, the box of goodies I got has definitely added to the motivation.

I tried installing the passenger door yesterday, but she don't fit. by a lot. I know that I braced the tub during fabrication so I'm wondering if the new body mounts could be playing into it? My backup plan is to enlarge the holes on the hinges and re paint them. We'll see after I have another stab at it.

The driver door fit much better, although tight in the opening. It's nice to see it come together with all the new weather striping. bling!

It appears that having 4 identical door pins will be another challenge. Another thing to sort out...

Passenger door doesn't fit. Looks like the b pillar moved in a bit, and on both sides. I managed to get the driver side to fit ok. I will try to rack the tub a bit by tightening the rear tub bolts, but I doubt this will help.

I'm thinking my method of carrying the tub around was not the best. That, or it bent, or maybe the new body mounts? It was braced during fabrication.... looks like I will need to grind into the paint. I shimmed the hinge plates forward with a washer, and the door adjustment is maxed out. Lines look good thought.

Anyone seen this before? suggestions before I crate more work for myself?

Pics would help. When you say it doesn't fit, where exactly are you having the problem? Top? Rear? Bottom? All of the above? Does it stick out, or do the lines not "line up"? As you said, doing as much work as you did to the tub could definitely mess up alignment for the door. I know when I had to replace my driver's floor pan and bottom of the A pillar, I had a heck of a time getting everything lined up again.
