The 100 is IFS, the 80 is properly manufactured.....:flipoff2:

. 4Runner really is a solid choice if you are considering a 100 . just my .02

I'm tempted by all LCs. I have an 80. Nearly bought a built 100 recently. Still regret it since it was a unicorn, but I love the 80, and I live in a city. I just love driving it, even though it's not powerful a cruise ship like a 100, it's a pretty amazing blend of live axles, diff locks (if you're lucky), airbags, ABS, etc etc. I also think lifted mostly stock 200s are worth a look, though another type of compromise. If I could I'd have a 25, 40, 55, 80, 100, 200 bahahaha

The funny thing is I remember back in 1994 when I bought my 80 series, all the 60 series guys were explaining how the 80 series was just too plush to be a "real" Land Cruiser with its leather interior and coil spring suspension, and it was a mall cruiser pretender compared to the "real" leaf sprung, low tech cruisers.

It seems things haven't changed too much.

totally agree. I think the 200 could age well. and predictably am suspect of the latest redesign

200, nuff said!

Blasphemy! The 200 is undoubtedly the ugliest Land Cruiser ever produced! I actually feel bad for the sucker driving a 200 on the rare occasion I happen to pull up next to one in a "properly designed" 80.

Sadly I have to agree that the look is a little.....ugly. That's why I would choose the LX over the LC 200. But man what a machine!

There is one factor that nobody has mentioned, which I think makes the decision brainless:

Parts Availability.

The 100 has (up to) ten more years of parts support by Toyota than the 80.

I've never driven an 80 or a 100 (I have a 60), but I can tell you that when Toyota decides to drop the axe..... it comes down swift and without warning.

One year everything seems available, then when you wake up the next day... most of its NLA.

Do yourself a favor and get the 100. At this point it doesn't matter about the perceived nuances of theoretical off road capability.

Although I prefer the 80, I would NEVER buy one.... simply because of future parts support.

I agree with you in general it's less attractive than earlier models.. but the LX over the 200?

Maybe the early LX570 is passable, but the later models of the LX570 look like a dullard running around with his mouth hanging open.

Yeah the newest ones left me scratching my head also.....good thing a brand new LX is not gonna get the CFO approval.

If you're the kind that showers everyday go for the 100. If you think dirt on your shoes means you need new shoes go for the 100. If you haven't camped since 1982 go for the 100. If you can't grow a beard go for the 100. If you own a Tommy Bahama shirt go for the 100. If your arms don't fill out your polo go for the 100. If you prefer tea over beer go for the 100. If you wear gloves whilst driving your Miata go for the 100. If your food can't touch the other food go for the 100. If you get Starbucks giftcards go for the 100. If your golf handicap is less than 25 go for the 100. If you wanted to be a cowboy as a kid...the 80!

I need some meds now.
I got the wrong LC.

I bought the 80 for me, and decided to just go for the sequoia for the wife. If I had a 100, I'd start stripping stuff and and trying to build a different kind of trail rig, which would just be redundant and piss her off. I can leave the sequoia alone and enjoy it when I drive it without the wheels (and wrenches) turning...

Better to SAS a U.S. domestic 100, so you have the V8. Slee has done a couple. Easier to swap the axle than the engine I think
