Sean is a pretty chill guy to work with. Polite and yet a straight shooter. (and what a great product!)

He was very willing to accommodate design ideas that I had just willing to tell me which ideas weren't good ones.

On my bumper he will be making it to hold a single Jjerry can. so I don't think that doing one with a 2 can set-up would a deal at all.

And, yes, he does ship.

Thanks for the help guys in answering some of the questions about the bumpers, and for the ideas and feedback which help me alot in trying to improve them.
As far as the expanded metal bottom of the basket goes I did switch to a heavier gauge after the first few I built did seem to flex a little when loaded up. and they still do flex some even with the heavier gauge steel. this is just the nature of expanded metal. I have not yet saw or heard of any actually breaking a weld or failing somehow, and although I feel it is unlikely, I can not say it is out of the realm of possibility. If one does break I surely will work to fix it. I guess I could of avoided all this by making the basket solely for jerry cans, but i wanted to make it more versatile for coolers or tools or whatever else you wanted to throw in it.
I am working on a 1 and 2 jerry can holder that hooks on and off the ladder with a high lift jack mount next to the ladder, I will post some pics when I figure it out.
And thanks Frank for the idea about another lock position for the swingouts about parallel to the sides of the truck, for those tight places where the fully open position is open a little too far, this is a standard feature now on all of my bumpers.

I do ship, and prices for this have been ranging from about $200-$350 depending on how far from CA its going.

See you Monday AM Sean. Can't wait to see what you came up with for my 2nd swing out for Hustonfab bumper #2. I am sure it will be a "wicked pissah"!

It came out wicked good Bruno, and I am glad to see you made it back from Boston in one piece. see you Monday!

And about those jerry cans in CA, you are supposed to use a CARB approved pour spout when pouring gas in CA. yes the one that is next to impossible to operate without spilling gas, and is so delicate it most likely will brake before you even try to pour gas. You could get fined for pouring gas with a regular pour spout, or transporting gas with a pour spout on the can even if it is plugged in CA. I dont know about non Ca jerry cans in CA and possible penalties involved. You can still buy the metal jerry cans that are made for use in CA with a childproof style cap that doesn't have a vent under the top of the can like the older style jerry cans do, and has a removable CARB spout on it. I bought a few of the cans at ORW, cost about $70 a piece. they even will sell you a "lifetime" warranty on the CARB nozzle for an additional $6 because of how easily they brake. Mine broke before i even got home trying to figure out how it works. It has a pour or store switch, a safety on the tip of the nozzle, and a push lever on the handle to start the flow, and is made of extremely light plastic. I gave up on the CARB nonsense and I threw it in the trash where it belongs. I usually siphon from cans on the bumper to the trucks tank anyway, and if I am filling up something that must be done by pouring, well I guess I am now a law breaker.

Can't wait to see what you've fabed for Bruno with the dual jerrycan carrier/ladder combo.

I am also 'guilty as charged' for having two non-CARB gas cans from 'the old days' so to speak before the crap/carb came into being. ;) I've got the swingout for my Kaymar. How wide is the bottom of the ladder? Assume it's welded to the swingout itself and not bolted like 4x4 Labs?

here it is bruno, we will see how it fits on the truck monday. And I couldnt help but add some more steel to the three can basket, Thanks Eric!!

Hot damn!! Can't wait to see it on the bumper!

The issue I was having was not so much the weight of the cans, but when you put a ratcheting tie strap on them it really put some down force on the bottom of the basket.

Is that a 48" or 60" hi-lift? How far above the roof line does it go?

EDIT: had to go out and measure. From that point on the bumper to the roof line is about 45" vertically.

this is what I did yesterday. the longer jacks fit better when on the outside going up and across. It is now also 10lbs lighter than the old style and seems to be just as rigid. the upper jack mount is removable and slides in and out to get the jack to lean against the different size tires the same too. 37" tire is about the max it holds without the tire getting into the taillight and coming too close to the 3 can basket.

Looks great Sean, I liked coming out last week and checking the bumpers out!

I have the 60" hi lift, good to know it will fit.

How much weight do you think the rear carrier can handle? I want to run XML's next year.

Jon

Real time test fit.
