George subtank computer

i emailed him recently.

Hi Chris,
yes, I have some built and on hand. Total of $30 paid to my credit@taskled.com paypal account and I can get one into the mail to you.

his regular email is: george80a@taskled.com

Better hurry! There will probably be a rush!

Well, here are the switches. Very nice.

Part numbers and switches.

Available USofA.

:)

Is that 80 switch correct?

My 80 switch has the indicator light, like the defroster switch, inorder to glow green when the pump is active & also to flash for the diagnostics.

I am also looking for the 100 series pigtail. Any idea on a part number?

Thanks

i am not sure either as my epc has no diagram for the fuel tanks, but the two fuel lines have to converge and there is a solenoid part in the oz epc that does not appear in north america

VALVE ASSY, FUEL TANK SOLENOID RETURN
77720‑60070

and there seems to be a bracket to mount it
BRACKET, FUEL SOLENOID VALVE MAIN
77716‑60100

it may look like this (image search for that p/n but from a chinese website)

bump for beno to ponder.

is it possible to plumb and wire these things in the factory manner and do we need this part to do it?

These switches are from HZJ80 and HZJ105 respectively. Not from petrol vehicles--hence their availability stateside. The 80 series switch will fit in lower dash locations near the rear heater switch.

The harness is not available in the US and would have to be built. IIRC, the female connector is available. I can check tomorrow

Thanks. I pulled my switch from a 105 so just need the female connector and jumpers.

You can. I did the complete retrofit on my 80. The way Toyota designed it. See the thread that El Mariachi started on the subtank retrofit.

Hey.. Im pretty sure the diesel switches and the petrol switches are different. They do not have the same outlets on the back of the switch. The last time I ordered tanks I got both types and the diesel ones would not work correctly with George's computer. Im sure George, el Mariachi, or one of the others can confirm.

Im pretty sure one of the 100 tanks i sent out also had a harness attached so someone may have gotten lucky

Simon,
Those are included with the 100 tanks:grinpimp:... atleast the petrol ones. I don't know if they will be useful though. I think its going to be easier to just plumb the tank to deliver into the main but I know someone of you guys like to suffer more than the rest of us...:bang:

Peter,
you should search some of the other subtank install threads. George's ECU should be covered somewhat in depth. I know Romer also added some info on a subtank install when he had an 80. If you have additional stuff to add it would be a good idea to include it in there. There is also great info on building the harness. if you have a cruiser instead of the LX your in luck as the wiring is already there.

Good information sir.

Unfortunately, in my position--without non-US tech info--I am left to order what I think might work and have to see it in real life to see if it really can work.

Or see what Toyota will allow us to physically get. :crybaby: :frown:

I appreciate the clarification and will chalk this experiment up to ignorance. :o

I will edit my posts above.

Peter,
IMO the install can be done with the guidance of some of the threads/posts by others. I don't see anyone else providing better info. If the HG threads can walk guys through the process I see this being doable. That was the route I took. The hardest part for me was installing the rivnuts but there are some good solutions for that now.

Beno- You may want to check with George first. There may be a work around for the switch now. Or rather you may still be able to use the switch you indicated and not the computer. I think the diesel switch was missing one of the pins but if you were merely switching on a fuel pump and manually watching the gauge this could work also. I don't mind you leaving it up as an option. I think this route is actually the easiest but you have to be aware of the pump continuing to run if the subtank is empty (ie watch the gauge).

switches and rods are on the way..

Is there going to be another run of these? If so i'd like an 80 series tank.

I "think" the diesel switches are different in early trucks because there were two servo valves routing the diesel, IIRC. The later switches for petrol are all I had to test in the original install. Where are you guys getting the factory ECUs? Or are you not using them?
