Oh, and I got the center diff locked this morning using @Bossman 's technique. Once I get the rear d-shaft off, can I drive it for any period as a front wheel drive without issue? Thanks again for all ya'll's help. :D

Not my technique. I just read if on mud myself. But, you don't want to drive it long distances in high lock on hard surfaces with both shafts in. That's exactly why Mr T built it that way.

We drove BillRiiiley's 80 from Chattanooga to Memphis with just the front driveshaft.

We were on a New Years Ride where the temp never got above freezing, and there were a dozen or more water crossings. Water got into a dying ujoint, froze and then destroyed it.

It didn't show up until we hit the highway. We pulled the rear shaft and enjoyed a smoother ride home than on the way out (it was just assumed to be mud tire vibration previously).

Cruisin' Off-Road 8274 bumper came in today.

Now I just need to find an 8274 for it...

The ones in the 3FE 80's came with coolers and seem to last forever like a FZ tranny. I never hear of them dying at 200K like every 62 tranny on the planet.

The 93-94 tranny is the best IMO

EDIT.....Beno knows way more than I on this but I can say these trucks go forever. Forever slow, but they last

I defer to Beno as well but I think the biggest problem with the 62 trans was the interface between it and the t-case. I'm actually pretty happy with my 3FE in front of the manual trans. No rocket ship but not the dog my FJ62 was.

Did someone say H55? :D
