Might as well do what all the cool kids are doing and swap in 100 series thirds and run a 32-30-30 set with custom inners.

Were all of Mr. Long's sets for the 80 series 24 spline like they are from the factory? Is the 30 spline inner/birfield joint a recent improvement RCV brought to the table?

I don't have the pockets, time, or desire to go to 32-spline 100-series diffs at this point. If I did anything, I think I would have the side gears of the 30-spline 9.5" thirds broached to 35-spline. Meh... For what I do, the 30-30-30 will be fine.

Yes, Mr. Long's 80-series birfs are all 30-24-30 as far as I know. RCV recently released the 30-30-30. They are also offering an upgrade to 300M inner axles for only $150 for the month of September. Tempting, but I don't think I will ever be hurting for 300M shafts under this Cruiser.

Will need them before the crawl.
Rob, wanted to make sure you saw that one of these has a click to it. Didn't bother me too terribly much, but I did have plans to eventually send it to RCV to have it rebuild. Their turn-around time is 2-3 days after they receive it, I believe. Want me to ship a birf (or both if you wanted to be real OCD...) to RCV?

Feel free to call or text to work it out - 501 two6two 80 18. I honestly had not planned on them moving this fast... :>/

balancin
It has $35 in wheel weights. Seems like you would reindex or static balance for 85k...nice but no that money

Balancing SSR? #noeffinway

Love it but no way $85k.

Sorry to see that Rob. That motor has too much powa!

Save it for a future Carnage Award!

Already have a new ring and pinion but have ran into a bit of an issue, cannot find any carrier bearings for locked diff that will be here in time for the crawl.

How you do that?

Seems to be a common issue with the 1st generation Sierra Gears. The teeth start with a hair line crack and then the teeth just start crumbling. There is not a tooth on the ring gear that isn't cracked in some way. The pic is of the worst part. Gear was broken in properly and never gave me any trouble. When the rear pinion bearing went out I locked the center diff and removed the rear drive shaft and that's when the noise became noticeable and was progressively getting worse.
