My point is....does it matter if it does?

Granted its cool as hell but you are still wheeling a 5000# truck with 3/4 ton components and a **** load of glass and steel.
No it doesn't. An 80 can do 95% and probably more of the trails out there with the stock suspension setup.

On the subject of suspension, my OME shocks were due for replacement. I don't know if y'all have priced OME shocks lately but they are higher than I remember. Therefore I decided to change it up a bit. After spending some time on the phone with one of my suppliers I went with a Bilstein 5125. Ordered some shock adaptors from ProComp and went to wrenching. With the adaptors the install was straight forward. I marked the OME shocks at ride height before I removed them. I found that I only had 1.5" of down travel. With the shock swap lets just say I tripled the down travel while keeping the up travel around the same. Downside to the travel is I will be installing limiting staps before the crawl. I don't want to have to chase my coil springs down while on the trail. Another bonus the 5125's look great. Rear install to come waiting on FedEx.

Are they gas? And what is the travel on those suckers?

Nice!

Cost?

$65 each

Adaptors $26 set , 3 sets needed

Lower bushing for rear shocks with 19mm hole $12 for the pair.

I don't count the shock adaptors as a real cost. If for some reason the 5125's don't work out the adaptors allow endless shock possibilities.

5150/5125s come in different dampening rates too. Also 8-10-12-14-16" lengths.

I'd read up and see who used them in a heavy truck. I loved the heavy rebound ones on the rear of my leaf spring cruiser. Stopped a lot if Hop

Answered my own questions. Great write ups. Any bad experiences with certain brands are welcome.
