I currently have ome 851 springs 2.5 of lift in the front and xtra heavies at 4.5 in of lift in the rear. Stance of the truck is way to ass high. Looking for some feedback on leveling out the truck. I know with the addition of an arb and winch upfront I will need at least some heavy duty springs, so I was thinking about some 850j springs. Has anyone installed these? And what other mods/parts do I need to accomplish this? Or should I just spacer the springs?

The problem with J fronts is that you may end up with driveline vibrations with the stock front shaft.

My truck did fine with MetalTech 2" spacers in the front. I even had standard OME yellow caster bushings

Ive got j's. I ended up with some front driveline vibrations after install. Mainly at hightway speeds and usually when decelerating. I put the OME Bushings in and it helped a little, but still there. Hoping bumper and winch will help with the rest.

I've got 850J's with L shocks up front and 863's (non J's and non L shocks) in the rear. I used the OME bushings and have no driveline vibrations (at least none that I notice). I've got an ARB bumper and a winch up front and a rear bumper replacement with spare tire swing out...to me, the front still needs some spacers.

On my 97 I ran J's with a spacer and had vibes. Put the Landtank correction kit on and still had vibes. Fix us a cv front shaft but I don't remember the details. Seems like it was the rear shaft out if an extended cab Tacoma shortened to fit the 80 front?

The best way to set one up for 315s and smaller is Heavy front/Medium rear IMO.

If you stick with stock rims the tires will tuck nicely and you won't be tall and tippy. It will sit nice and low and level.

Your cheapest option is to replace those rear springs.

I am planning on a full floater rear swap into my 92 but need a complete parking brake cable assy from a 93-97 to make the job easier. Let me know if anyone has a line on one or if you see a parts truck in a yard nearby? TIA

Bessie has heavies all the way around and 1.5 metaltech spacers up front. ome caster correction bushings on 315 KM2. does fine.

After I picked up the truck and drove it 1100mi from Colorado Springs I thought for sure the xtra heavies would be the first thing to go, but I kinda like the stiffer ride. So keeping those. I really appreciate all the feedback. I already have caster correction bushings. So It looks like I eventually will need to get the heavy springs and a spacer.

Send geologic a pm. He owns the complete 80 chassis in my shop.

Just had a tube seal fail letting some water in and some oil out. Otherwise the rear axle held up fine under all the weight.

Front axle took in water twice despite the raised vent lines. Still have not figured out how. Only other problem I had was a slight malfunction of the Warn when the control box rotated around and grounded against one of the motor power leads. Easy fix. Truck did really well.
