Antone do an upgrade to the front brakes and still use 16" rims? My brakes with 35s are iffy sometimes wheeling down steep hills in low gear.

My brakes have gone through a change. The ABS and LSPV have been deleted and I upgraded the rotors and pads with a kit from Powerstop designed for towing/offroading.

Are you sure your system is good? A new LSPV made all the difference on mine. Original rubber lines are shot by now too, and there's a few on these. Not saying not to upgrade, but you should figure out if something is bad first.

Also any suggestions on booster upgrades?
Since you're in the US, I'll let your US counterparts recommend, but upgrading to a heavy duty dual diaphragm booster made a good difference to mine. Depending on whether your original runs 2 or 4 bolt, you may need a new master cylinder too. I also run DBA slotted rotors and Brembo pads. Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years, and all lines inspected and replaced if they have never been done.

Thanks for the info

i see all these complaints about the stock system and i don't get it

my 4-wheel disc 80 has (in the last 5 years) a new OE booster, 4 new OE calipers, 4 new rotors, soft lines, and fluid. still have ABS and LSPV too. currently using EBC Green Stuff pads. no complaints.

are you overheating your brakes on hills? what is the age of all the brake components?

I have (4) new OEM calipers and new back rotors, the front rotors are stock. Original booster. ABS is disabled (fuse out) due to bad pulsing when coming to stop at times, LSPV is stock, never looked into this. ON the road, brakes work fine. The only time I have issues is extreme down hill or up hill in off road angles, I have to hold on the brake really hard to keep it from moving, like its not going to hold if I need to wait on a hill.

does your pedal get better if you "pump it up"? i've had that on a different vehicle, and replacing the MC fixed it right up. brakes still grabbed hard, but at a lower pedal position.

if you press on the pedal, does it sink or stay put?

i'd suspect either your master cylinder or booster, or both, with those symptoms. i'll defer to someone more expert than i am on this subject but seems like you have a problem that new bigger calipers and rotors is not going to solve.

I'm running 35s and weigh 7500# and my stopping power is crazy good due to the elimination of ABS and LSPV. I don't have fancy pads or rotors either. A search will reveal the pertinent data on this process.
