Ah, I see now on a laptop vs. the phone. this is in the rear qtr, so my 1/2arsed assessment via mobile browser while enjoying a cold tasty Freak of Nature was a tad misguided :D

I would agree, if 62s had sun roofs, or if 80s had sun roofs above the rear quarter panels :p

This thread has morphed into a combination build thread, the original 80 (mine) and the 62 for a customer. The water is in the 60.

I lost my scorecard. Just file my posts away for later. And give Johnny the Pays Attention In Class award.
X2. And I guess the price of any future Vortec conversion for El Rojo just doubled ....

I was about to say 62's dont have sunroofs but Johnny beat me too it...... I need to get my computer working again

No worries guys, I appreciate the input. Johnny is young and has better eyes and clear mental functions. Us old guys are lucky just to remember those days :)

Sunroofs have 4 drains. 2 are routed down throughout the A-pillars and 2 are routed down through the rear quarters. Ramon and Sam are correct that the slit drains can clog and back up into the rear quarters. It can back up to the roof speakers if it's bad enough. The fronts can clog and will back up to approximately the A-pillar grab handle - you WILL get drenched when that happens. They'll drip straight down from there right along the edge of the carpet/door jamb trim if the flow is heavy. It'll flow down the A-pillar to the floor if the flow is light.

The drain lines can be chased out with string trimmer line from above and something slimmer from below (like Sam said). Don't use compressed air for fear of disconnecting the drain tubing connections.

There's also 2 plastic front corner pieces in the sunroof track area that can warp slightly and cause leak issues. See johnvees80thread for part numbers and detail. The 2 new pieces are inexpensive.

@GLTHFJ60 - :moon:

Where are the slits? I hear water sloshing around but I just thought it was fuel in the tank... I checked the doors and nothing. I think I may have this issue.

"to it", not "too it" - in the spirit of Meatball - since he would never catch that ;-)

Look along the pinch welds. There are 4 slits as I recall between the front and rear axles and one or two in the rear quarters. There are also a few small rubber plugs.

My 80 sounded exactly the same when I got it.

Nahhh, maybe just a small upcharge :) Something along the lines of a pound of that bacon wrapped Elk you grill sooooooo well.

Geeze ... I guess the pressure is now on for my hunt in September. ;)

OK, so I'll buy a freezer.......

1/800th is a small price to pay:)

Sorry to steal the thread, but thanks for the help Sam! I couldn't get to the slits because my sliders are in the way... But I managed to pull a plug out and water just dumped out like above. Can I just leave the plug out until I can get the slits cleaned?

Should be able to ... Just realize you have a spot or two where stuff can get into the void a little easier
