Im in a small dilemma as I wait for a couple parts to arrive. Should I run these original numbered vacuum lines and zip tie the ends to eliminate the possibility of leaks? Or, run new oem vacuum line which isn’t numbered but won’t leak?

The new vacuum line also wouldn’t need to be cleaned one by one, and would look like this line from the distributor to the air cleaner.

Sounds like you want new lines to pass the inspection but want the originals for the nostalgic vibes. I say get some cheap parts store hose, pass your test, and then put original on afterwards.

See, there is a reason why I look up to you…
Get ‘em hoss.
Thanks! Hoping to start it this week, got an appointment to fab up a midpipe to join headers and exhaust on sat 🤞🏼

Got the smog pump belt on before I called it a night. Kind of sucks I had to take the alternator and fan clutch off to do so, but that’s part of wrenching lol

So the pump belt ended up being too short and causing the hose to go up right into the header. I read up about the recommended belt size (43 1/8”) being too short, but no one has posted a part number for a belt that worked. Ordered up a few different sizes and will report back with my findings.

I started cleaning the original vacuum lines but I was taking off the original numbers while doing it. So I caved and ordered a bunch of oem vacuum hose packs. I’ll most likely write the number in sharpie on the beginning and end of each one.

I finally gathered all the parts for my “exhaust repair kit” lol

I opted to leave the 3 bolt flange since the exhaust has already been modified for it, and I can easily bolt on a carb legal Downey header if I come across one.

Excuse my ignorance but how do these work?
Weld the flanges or?
I have some exhaust dilemmas and I’d like to try a few different things prior to committing at a shop.

The flanges will need to be bolted to header and exhaust. Then the pipe will get cut/trimmed to fit before it can get welded together. I'm towing it to my friends fab shop on Saturday morning so he can do the tedious work.

Here is some stuff he has done for me:

Drooool…

I guess I’m of an age where looking at beautiful beads is basically porn. That and tree felling videos.

Thanks guys! I let it idle for 20 min to let the manifold coating cure and everything seemed ok. The idle is a little high, but that can be adjusted easily.

Almost forgot to mention that I swapped the old spray painted air cleaner clamps with nos replacements from @ToyotaMatt

Drove this thing 20 miles open header to the fab shop lol. It got a little hotter than normal, but I’m not sure if that’s due to the emission equipment or if the exhaust dumping in the engine bay. I guess we will have to see how it runs after the exhaust is patched up.
