So left the ammeter in circuit, it’s giving strange results, as the white wire is no longer connected to the alternator. But the alternator is showing 14.4-14.5 volts at idle, and while running drops down a bit to 14.2 or so.

Cleaned up the wiring at the coil, and as suspected the igniter was not really in circuit. However I cannot remove it as the base is spot welded to the coil mount. Ordered up a new coil mount with the dropping resistor. I verified that when the starter engages, there is 12v put out on a lug on the starter. This is the Black/yellow wire shown on the diagram above from the starter to the + side of the coil. Ordered up some proper wire color from wirebarn, so the next owner will not be scratching their head, as I was.
Once the wire comes in, will redo that part of the engine harness and remove the alternator/regulator wiring.

Went for a short drive a small embankment near my house to check the 4x4 and low range, as well as the handbrake.

Overall, a good day’s work.

On my way to Ouray Colorado for SAS#10! Mostly easy driving up country roads, staying off freeways as much as possible

Temperatures staying at around 180-190 depending on external temperature. Keeping an eye on my MAF temp, mornings it stays around 100-105, but afternoons around 120, and this with the new air cleaner. West Texas middle of summer there is really no cool air, except perhaps from 5-9 in the morning.

Houston - San Angelo, Clovis NM, Chama NM and the Ouray. Around 300 miles or a bit more per day.

Have a small gps speedometer and it shows around 14mpg with the sniper at typically 50-55mph.
