They say, a creature, when robbed of one of it's sentient capabilities (sight/sound - AKA the ability to distinguish a overly proportioned "Girth-a-saur", by the squeaking of her bar stool in a dimly lit bar), Often, exhibits an ability to adapt a lesser sense to compensate for one or more of their inactive or dormant faculties. I used the "credit card" method to tick off the number of threads while disassembling/reassembling the TRE's.

Disclaimer: No women of girth were exploited during the assembly process.

Up and at it at the crack of noon?

I like the preservation-for-ocean-voyage-level greasing.

Can't see the trees for the forest of grease!!

I was conflicted.. I didn't know whether to "like" Jeff's grease or not... Eventually, I decided to "like" his post instead... Just 'cuz he had the nerve to dive in there while everyone else was sitting down to lunch.

Given my advanced age, waning memory and diminished motor-skills, I managed the TRE upgrade in a little over four hours..That, to some, may seem like an inordinate amount of time. But, to those of us with bulging disks, tendinitis and attention-deficit-disorder, four hours is a brief moment in time.

I am short one cotter pin. I'll make a pilgrimage to NAPA in the AM IOT complete the last bit assembly.

I do however regret this recent upgrade. It was like tying a rose to a pigs ear. Afterward, the other end of the pig doesn't look so good. So, I reckon a good steam cleaning and Birfield rebuild is in order...

Looks like you lost about 5lbs just in grease alone! looks like you're going to have a nice riding and steering rig!

Hey Fly Boy!!! Good to hear from you..

Son, some of that grease was so old it still had clam shells in it..

It was long over-due. But, with the new legs and shoes it should be a whole new mule....

So bad I had to d'-grease them just to find the castle nut. All but one or two of the rubber boots had disintegrated into unrecognizable pieces. In one instance I found the words largest cotter-pint that must have been driven with a rivet gun...Everything soaking in prep for the transfer of duty to the new TRE's...

So, you didn't really take your new trees and slather them in grease and grime, as your picture order implies... Right?

Tough Dog damper re-installed. Other than pushing the mule out of the stall a little at a time, I haven't had the opportunity to see how this damper performs..I will however, post a review as soon as I can coax ole' Zig into jaunt up the mountain...Should be soon.!

While waiting for the molten grease to solidify, I thought I would tackle one of the smaller projects I've been putting off.

I used some of the left-over closed cell foam to make a set of "cushions" for the Jump seats..Seems to work well. Helps prevent scratching up the mounting points to the hard top. Installed one seat and left the other for Monday. Had to take Geritol and fiber break..

That is like a weeks worth of work in 15 min of thread, damn I wish I could run that pace. Maybe the Mule should be named American Pharaoh.

Chungas, I've never been one to make very many comments, but I have been keeping track of how things are going for you. I like what I'm seeing, keep it up.

Thanks Don. I'm not smart enough to quit...

Mule should be named American Pharaoh.

As it is brother I have no adult supervission...It was rainy all day today, so WTH, might as well devote a day to one of my lesser evils...:)

I had a cleaning day in the garage yesterday, I was to the point where I couldn't find things when I needed them, tools, parts, beer, and the radio. Went to the local Harbor Freight and picked up a welding cabinet in sale to help clear the work bench. At least now the welder is mobile.

I couldn't find things when I needed

Chuckle...I am finding things everyday...Looking forward to watching your welding prowess take shape...I still have a Swiss Cheese issue to deal with REF: rear sill cover.

I still have some tell-tale weeping near the E-brake and the funk of forty years clinging to my front end....

Did you make it down to the Savage River? I think I'll bring back the five weight next week. May head over to "Smoke Hole" in the near future...

Yeah, I spent a couple days at the Savage, didn't get any fishing in, mostly relaxing and drinking a few beers. I did get over around Barnum on Wed, there is some SERIOUS potential there for monster trout. I WILL RETURN.

I spent a couple days at the Savage

Next time you make it over this way make sure you let me know. I'll show you a little Preston Co hospitality
vis-à-vis a trip to the Cheat River.

Nice freaking tractor.....but what are the mystery boxes stacked in the back with ominous-seeming solitary knob?
