75 series springs into a 55?

Hey guys, there are literally dozens of combinations of springs (light, medium, heavy, heavy constant for both front and rear) that can be assembled for the FJ55. It is true that 'most' use the middle option which is heavy (not heavy constant options) but we base all that on the anticipated loads when we go through a build sheet with the customer. It's proven to be a great functioning setup with very minimal mods (hour or less to move the perches and totally reversible). Thanks for the kind worlds chevurai, glad to hear your loving it.

The rear springs are on back-order, simply a factor of increased sales both for the 55 and 75 platforms in the US as more and more make it stateside with the 25 year rule. We have a bunch coming and if someone is in a HUGE hurry and is willing to pay a few extra bucks, we can likely accommodate a rush shipment by using the heavier springs (which by pulling a leaf makes the same thing). Hope that helps!

Got myself some 75 2" lifted front springs yesterday. I won't be fitting them up for a while, but i think just the springs will give me about 4" of lift over the flattened ones that are currently there. Combine that with the shackles i'll put on and either 33 or 35" tyres and it's going to be a massive difference!

Just got my new leafs! They look BURLY! I got the heavies up front and the constant heavies in the rear. Thought my bushings would work but the OD is much larger than the stock. I under stand that the inner is 18mm so that means that I will be on,looks like, almost a third thicker bushings once ordered tomorrow. Softer ride, I guess.

that's what I'm talkin about...

Thanks Sixty's Guy - thanks for the table. I'd found that earlier and have it saved in a special spot ;)

For the people that have relocated their rear spring hanger - Did you weld it on or did you bolt it on. I'll be inclined to bolt it on using high tensile steel bolts big enough to replace the rivets. I can't see that this would be bad in any way unless an engineer wouldn't sign off on it. Ideas? Thoughts? Pics?

I bolted mine with 3/8" grade 8 bolts and tack welded the ends of the hangers.

meh...leaf springs:flipoff2:

Coil springs is the devil!

why do you hate the metric system?

It’s not a love hate thing with me, the country I live in and love never adopted the metric system so my bolt bins are stocked with the hardware most common for the environments I live and work in.

I’m not a purest when it comes to all things Toyota and have no issue sticking a 3/8” bolt in a 10mm hole if it saves me a trip to the store only to find they don’t stock metric hardware in the sizes I need anyway. :bang:

yeah, but now you gotta have a 9/16 AND a 14 mm...
