Do those have the reclining hinge? I think Mot was bringing those in from Japan at one point.
No recline but I believe there is a thread with info to mod them yourself. I don’t think I have ever ridden in the back of an 80 to see if the seats suit me. I drive with the seat back more vertical that the norm.

Should be fine then.

I forgot about the parking brake so 80 second row seats won't work. The mine company had a plate over the parking brake so I don't even know if the bench seat it came with will work. I'll need to verify tonight if the weather holds.
I do not want to mess with the moving parking brake due to 80 series parking brake lever being a direct fit into the 75 cab.

No go on the bench seat it came with or 80 series middle row. Both cover up the parking brake. Back to bucket seats I guess which isn’t terrible.

I did the killer dowel pin fix today. I had to bang it back flush to get the DIY tab over it. Tomorrow I need to pick up a new timing cover gasket and a front main seal to finish this project. I have a few more small items on the punch list before I can call the engine good and start on the body. I still want to swap in 4K governor springs and swap out the turbo drain tube in the block while they can be done easily with no fenders in the way.

It was one of those days with no fun projects to start so I had to do some dirty work. I welded up the unwanted holes in the dash, sanded it down and gave it a nice coat of primer. Weather permitting tomorrow afternoon I will finish it off with Kubota Dark Gray.

I’ll be doing some buffing this week to make it look a bit better but I’m happy with the rattle can paint job. The pole from an old trampoline that got mangled in a wind storm worked great to hold the dash up for painting.

Working on installing high mount accessory bracket. I still need to install tensioner. This should be the last week of engine related work. Then onto mounting the body.

Is that giant pulley on the top left just an idler pulley? Get a dang AC compressor man. You live in Texas!

It's my AC delete pulley!

Only you.....

Checked off a few more items on the list.
Finished turbo oil lines. I ended up using a -10AN fitting they goes into the block and making both the feed and return lines using AN fittings.
Got my tensioner installed so belt routing is done.
AFC and 4K governor springs installed. Also been swapping out new hardware when possible. Bling bling.

Looks good, man!

Did you put a new water pump in?

I did not. I took it off to check the o-ring and it looked good. It’s easy enough to replace later. Never had to change the one in the 80 yet either. It such an easy engine to work on.

Forgot to post this one the other day that officially finished off the turbo build. Since I had to ditch the electronic actuator on the HE351 I went with a spring actuator waste gate controller. It originally was a Crazy Carl Turbo's product that was designed for a compound turbo setup that uses a HE351 in a flipped manifold position. I cut the weld on the actuator and moved it into its present position. I can tighten the nut to hold the waste gate closed longer. Looking forward to fine tuning it once the truck is road worthy. Seems like a nice simple design.

The freshly painted trip hazard is now back inside the house rather than in the cluttered garage. I put the majority of it back together just to get a feel for the color and not loose hardware. The Kubota gray is a pretty damn close match of the pad and handle. Now debating painting the light gray plastic. What everyone think?
Also added a fresh reproduction sticker to the glove box from @SNLC.

I personally like the contrast of the two different gray colors. I say leave it.

I think it looks badass. Nice work. On the light grey? Depends on when you want to be done?, vs do you want to do it later?, vs can you live with it? You'll just roll with the best fit when it hits you.
