little work this morning.....pile of suhweet 4:1 gears with 32-spline front and rear shafts, and a blasted/primed/painted case....

little more work today on this, let the paint dry, and install tomorrow....

should have some rear axle pics this aft too, I hope...lol

AA-Mfg brackets for rear discs using Monte Carlo calipers....$10 per bracket, option one didn't work...

getting these square left the caliper too offset to center the pads in the rotor....

so plan B....trim the bracket and weld on the axle flange....

2 pics of the material removed and a stock bracket for comparison....

and, two pics of the new mockup...this outta work perfectly....

so will your d300 when twin sticked give you independent front wheel drive like an atlas or only allow 2 wheel low range like a cruiser case

Quickest way I know to kill a birf ;)

rear axle in primer....final coats later tonite....

with LOTS of luck, it'll be mostly assembled by next weekend.....

D300 shot from late yesterday....input and rear output are in and done, just waiting for the front output housing to get machined....

Looks really good Brian.

how did your rims fit on the rear? pictures looks like a really shallow hat on that rotor.

what rotor?

same GM 1/2 ton front rotor as used for the "normal" FJ40 RDB conversion....the center needs to be machined slightly smaller tho, these are loose on the center, but I may just tack them on the axle housing to solve that (keep the bootay-tech alive ya know...lol)

Rims aren't here yet, but planning 1-1/2" spacers on each side anyways....since the calipers and rotors are identical to what was on my FJ40 rear, clearance shouldn't be an issue regardless.

custom axle and adding 1.5" spacers?

did you use ifs or solid rear axle shafts? i read back through and didnt find it mentioned.

I am getting ready to play with rotors with a much deeper hat, that is why i asked.

85 mini rear shafts....55" WTW just like a stock 40....WHY?

Cause I have 4 pairs of 85-ish mini rears laying around...lol
If I'd had a IFS rear laying around, I'd have gone 58 WTW and skipped the spacers. Tis way it matches my stock FJ40 front too.

The other issue is my rim choice...stuck with 3.5" BS rather than 2" like my last set...just how I opted to do it this time.....partly since resale on 2" BS rim's isn't as easy as 3.5" normal BS.

don't forget, I AM cheap.... ;)

I've got the exact diameter the GM rotors need to be machined to in order to fit the minitruck hub perfectly at home, I'll grab that later today.

Mine are pre-'86 axle shafts to make the axle the same width as the front. HI^C - you might use IFS shafts if you want to make it a little wider...

Woody, what am I missing? New wheels? new bling?

TrailReady steel 17's on order, fitted initially with 39.5 IROKs bias and then later with 39.5 PitBull Rockers...

I've got the dimension...but these rotors were already machined for the larger center diameter Cruiser axles, and I'm presently too cheap to purchase new rotors and machine them....hehehe

Woody,
I noticed that your monte calipers do not have the little bump grinded off and slipped into the bracket farther? Does the surface area of the pad come in full contact with the rotor?? I had to do this to accomidate the problem. Your brackets could be different though.

mmm....never knew that was an option...both sets of brackets I've ever owned were pre-threaded for mounting the calipers, and I never needed any grind work...however, the pads do have a <1/8" outer edge that never contacts the rotor....hasn't been an issue, these pads are about 3 years old and working fine.

Ditto on the wear...

Different brackets......must be. Mine came without the pre drilled holes. What a PITA drilling and tapping. If I had not positioned the caliper farther in my rim (15") would have rubbed.

Hey, get back on subject Woody............post some more pics.
