Nothing spectacular... figured I'd drill out the oil galley plug and get it tapped prior to sending it the the machine shop. I told myself to do a couple of things to the rig everyday, no matter how small.

Pulled valve cover, water pump and side cover. Drained the oil and properly disposed of it at the local recycle facility. So far everything looks pretty good to me. I will pop the head and oil pan off tomorrow to see what lies BENEATH..

The zinc coating is still nice and shiny on all the bolts.... and knock on wood... everything is coming loose with ease so far.

Tore the motor down some more. This motor has been rebuilt before... (ALWAYS WORRIES ME...) BUT, Everything looks pretty good on the camshaft, cylinder walls, rods and mains.. I'll let my machinist be the judge for me.

FOUND THE REST OF THE FUEL PUMP.. PO didn't put a spacer in and broke the tongue off the pump. Will be getting the spacer and new pump from @cruiseroutfit in the near future.

Hey mate, just pulled my F down after it shat itself and I'm tooling up now for a later rebuild. What's the air rail and why do you plug them?

USA LATE 2F have a ton of emissions components, etc.. I'm desmogging this motor. Just one of the may steps to remove the emissions.

Understood. Thanks dude. Thought it was an F thing but it ain't.

A few more of the tear down and per the recommendation of Georg... brass pipe plugs for the air rail ports.

Not the Toyota part intended for that purpose? :(

Whatever you do just make sure to put loctite and forget about them forever. While you're there don't forget the oil galley plug too!

.68 cents each INSTEAD OF $6 EACH... Galley is done, read above..

...but....Toyota! ;)

One of these days I'm going to have a stocker with a three on the tree. And, I'll be happy you are doing this writeup!!

You're more than welcome to swing by and help me install it ;)
Jason has done an awesome job at taking pictures for me. Hopefully it will go back together smoothly. I have a stock 67 as well now, polar opposite of my 76. I'm with you Mace, one of each!

Just curious why you are going with the 2F? I personally find it to be an underwhelming engine

1) 2F was free less gaskets , hot tank and my buddy (machinist) to run through everything for me for 50$..
2) Not my DD
3) 4.56 gears (soon to be) and 36/37s = FUN w/ a 2F
4) Why not?
5) Cause I SAID SO! HA! :p

Cheers

Those shackle hangers look cool..
