I just installed most of the SOR LV interior - everything was *excellent* quality and it looks fantastic. I compared SOR to my local auto upholstry shops who had good reviews and seemed competent and SOR was less expensive than all of them!!!! It seems that auto upholstry shop owners eyes get big when you ask them to quote a complete interior. Of course, the SOR stuff requires do-it-yourself, but that's what it's all about. I don't need some chew-boy to charge me an extra 50% for his labor.

--door panels - do require assembly even though the guy at SOR told me they came assembled. In hindsight, this makes sense because you will need to line up the two-tone....

--seat covers and foam (front and rear)

--headliner - QUESTION - what is the best way to attach the 'rim' of the headliner? Originally, there was a thin tack-strip with some welting trim over that.

--firewall skirt - originally, this was attached with snaps. The repro comes with velcro to attach but could be modified to use snaps.

I also got the slip covers.

HTH!!!

EDIT: found some pics

So the red/coral was never in the LV's only the pickup. Got it. I like the original two tone and I like the simplicity of ordering it from Spector if the quality is good and it is accurate. Has anyone seen it in person?

Any pics? Do you need pics of the headliner details? It does install with a thin wood tack strip, which if I remember correctly was screwed to the body.

Yup, thin tack strip screwed to body. The tack strip at HomeDepot is too thick and won't bend enought for the inside curves. I'm gonna check around and see if there is a thinner product perhaps that comes in a roll.

I'm a little confused how the SOR welting is supposed to be installed (it comes as two pieces), but I'll probably give SOR a call for clarification.

I added pics above.

Made some more progress. I spent most of monday removing more parts, including the fender, steering box and column, shock mount and a bit of dirt.

I was able to get the column cut down and the 80 series steering box on the frame about where it will go. Once i get the front springs back from the blaster and in powder and back under the truck i can get the box mounted and the shaft built.

I also picked up my donor truck yesterday so I should be able to have the drivetrain out of the Tundra shortly so I can begin assembling it with the 80 trans and t-case.

Donor truck and LX450 trans and t-case.

The truck is a 2000 tundra with a v8 and 4wd. 157k miles and a new timing belt. The plan is to pull the drivetrain out of the tundra on Monday.

2uz/ a343 / hf2a I plan to leave it full time 4wd with a Torsen limited slip in the front and a Full Float w/ an Eaton E-Locker in the back.

More progress...

Drive-train and Wiring Harness removed from the donor truck. Now to get the engine cleaned up and ready to bolt to the 80 trans and t-case.

I also picked up a Front axle housing so I should be able to get the front end going back together soon.

I was wondering why there was no engine in that tundra when i was last there hahaha. I didn't know your LV was getting such an extensive rebuild :cool:

More progress. The front axle is finished and installed.

Blasted and Powder Coated Springs with new bushings and shackles. PC Axle housing, PC diff housing, PC all knuckle and Brake parts, New IFS 4-Runner Calipers, Torsen LSD in a fine splind 4.10 diff, drive flanges.

I also got the 80 series steering box mounted and should have the drag link and tie-rod finished shortly.

So I bolted the 2u to the 80 series trans and t-case on Monday and began the first install of the drivetrain. All in all it fits pretty well.

It looks like i will have to tub the tunnel a bit to get the back of the drivetrain up a some, but there are no major interference issues with the PS box or booster master assy. I also have yet to build motor mounts so it is just sitting on the frame rails. The engine will come up a few inches from where it is and go back some as well.

It is just sitting on the frame rails now. It will have to move back 4 or more inches from where it is. The PS box interferes with the shock mount (which has been removed) but the fender should be no problem.

Mike: are you going to keep era-specific steering or upgrade to Saginaw/FJ60/80 series?
