My uncle out in utah bought a 63 FST . Will the top off say a 74 fit or is a 63 totally diffrent?

The tops are different. The earlier tops (pre 65) had corrugated sides. The top also fit differently around the windshield.
I have seen some early 40's with a later style top, but I can't be sure of the fit.

Not worried about the sides because he doesnt like those sides. was wondering it the width and length are the same.
Adapting a Bestop Tigertop to a round door factory soft top tub is relatively straightforward. Basically modifying the doors and adjusting the windshield angle to match the doors with some washers.

Are you asking if a later model soft top will fit or hard top?
The '63 FST is narrower at the B-pillar, you can get a later model hardtop to fit it, but it looks funky and of course, you have the doors to deal with as well.

If he is looking for a hard top, and does not like the corrugated sides, (which really won't fit very nicely on '63 the FST anyways) then I would suggest he sell the '63, and buy a '66 or newer FST. Then he would be able to run soft top during the summer, and a hard top in the winter, with-out any real problems

He got a 63 sft but it only has the bows (which hes sending to me

In that case, sure. The hardtop will fit, I've got an '80 top on my parts 25, John has one on his 25 too.
But.......the bows won't work on your 40, unless you want to modify the bows for a top no one is making at the moment. I'll be glad to take them off your hands.

Well my uncle is comming to alabama for christmas and is bringing me the bows and door pillars for my 74 FST which has a hard top on the PO installed. I still have the rear bow holders in the rear on the fender wells, what else will I need besides ocdbeetle making me the top?

If your serious his door pillars and bows wont fit my 74 when he gets here Ill take pics and we might just swap.
