so it looks like Warn, MM and Aisin have all discontinued their 6 spline hubs, ( is that true?) anyone have any ideas on where to get new locking hubs that will fit my 72 FJ40.

The last one is a bit pricey, but they are NOS.

you want new? if you post in the wanted section of classifieds, there are many people with good used ones and the price should be reasonable.

I have some really clean used ones. But there are TONS of functional used ones for cheap in the classifieds.

FYI, the housings of a fine splined Warn hub can be interchanged with the housings of a coarse splined Warn hub. Only the gear that fits over the Birfield is different. I used 74 housings to repair 76 hubs that had been butchered by a backyard mechanic who didn't know how to service them properly.
