Im posting my 1992 HDJ81 for sale. It currently sits around 203,000km and runs great with no blowby. In my ownership the maintenance items/mods below have been done

Front knuckle rebuild

New CCT Stage 1 turbo

New OEM hoses

Timing Belt

BEBs

Valve cover gasket

Water pump

Glow plugs

Fire wall and rear fenders had rust spots which I had cut out and replaced and coated

EGT and Boost gauge

Water Gauge just needs to be hooked up

PDI Front Mount Intercooler

Clarkfab airbox which is ready for a safari snorkel

Slee Shortbus front bumper

The bottom of the 81 I had coated to protect it against winters here in colorado by the same shop who did the rust repair. They only did the body not the frame underneath

Future items I would look at down the road are injector rebuilds and just some general tuning. It passed colorado emissions and I do have the form from the state inspection clearing it when i registered thr vehicle.

Im selling because Id like to get into a truck at this point in time between work and camping id like something a little bigger.

In my ownership ive put almost 40k km on the 81 and it has never left me stranded. July of 2023 I took it on a 3600 mile road trip out to oregon from colorado and it did fantastic. The most recent trip I took the 81 down to monument valley from denver and again had zero issues.
I am asking 29,000for it OBO the 5spd has been incredible and it averages around 20-22mpg highway.

The stainless exhaust was built in oregon and it is high clearance in the back. I also have the carvx report on it and can post that in a few hours. Vehicle was a grade 3.5 and interior was a C grade. The 81 came from a area just outside Tokyo

Wanna sell the hatch and swing out 😘

Honestly great truck and great price. Very well fitted hdj81 that’s bulletproofed in all the right spots, plus stock in the ones you want as a buyer. Clean as a whistle underneath it, where I personally have spent many hours.

Interesting report, I didn’t think about the radiation from the ***ushima disaster until it was mentioned.

Interesting report, I didn’t think about the radiation from the f***ushima disaster until it was mentioned.
I was looking at a 70 series before I bought the 81 and I ran a report on it and found out it had been in ***ushima its whole life and it failed the radiation check. So it was pretty interesting seeing it sell on BAT

Having seen, helped work on, and driven this truck.. it is in excellent shape and adventure ready.

Very interesting Indeed.

I forgot to mention that during the knuckle rebuild I also did new rotors and pads from power stop. The rear brakes still have some life left in them but if the buyer wants I can put the new rotors and pads on as well just havent had a ton of time to do them

Quick walk around of the 81 from the old owner

Here you can witness how much fun the 5spd is!

Getting around to finishing up the rear brakes. New caliper is also going on tomorrow.

So you built the exhaust and airbox? Nice work man. Wish I had come to you for mine…
