55 SWB Soft top - Factory? Seen in Bali Indonesia

I thought you guys might be interested in seeing this. It is either some very obscure factory unit or someone did a really nice job on a custom. Does anyone have the answer? Does the wheelbase look like short? Notice the drop down tail gate. The emblems are similar to a 40 but on the opposite side. The tail lights look like late model style. It's RHD.

I doubt it is a factory rig. Looks like someone did a nice job mating a 45 and a 55.

They chopped behind the front doors.

That is some nice work. and a great looking Pig. Could almost pass for Factory.
Maybe better than the factory could do...but I never liked the looks of those 70 lights on the aprons.

x3 Very nice work.........bumpers look quality.....has the very early grill with turn signals + early hood and drop down tailgate; off a 45 maybe?..... fuel fill on the right side; a frankenstein...very nicely done though; wonder if it has a diesel?

the tailgage is what looks unique ... look close.. it says TOYOTA.... I don't know of a taigate that size from a 45 that looks like that.... it looks the size of a shortbed...... which didn't have that....... i don't know... it just looks too good..... i think it must be original......

Looking at the hinges they are from a 40 lower ambi door or barn door. Fuel filler early 40 or patterned after it. 40 taillights.

Truck looks really good but it is not stock. Doesn't detract at all from its coolness in my mind. That's a great way to give new life to a rusty piggie.

I saw one just like this in a magazine about the Rubithon trail ride event in the early 90's! Before I could say for sure that it's not original I would like to see it with the top off...that bed doesn't look right for a 45 and the top covers up how it's tide in with the bed! I'm still thinking it's not original but I could say for 100% sure with out further investigation!

Somebody needs to build one of these anyway! It's way cooler than a 40 anyday! IMHO

After looking at this again, could it be the back of a 40 with the wheel well moved forward and maybe a custom tailgate out of metal from something? It's weird how such a bastard can look so cool.

On second thought I think they probably made that tailgate from scratch.

I like how the rig is understated...... Tell me you wouldn't blow a lot of cruiser-head-heads driving that thing anywhere.....
