Ur call on keg. We can keg some stout we have in carboy and have carbed by then and I can bring kegorator if u want. Getting reinbursed is harder. And since u and I are on limited drinking quantities its still fun to provide for others. Ill discuss with colin see what he thinks. I can tell u what I think he will think. :)

finally, I can say it.

Tube doors DONE ended up rattle can priming and painting with a textured finish grey. Later I can blast and powdercoat with the appropriate color. Somehow I forgot to take a picture of them.

Rob came over again and we got the rear hitch off. Only broke the two bolts we did not need for the recovery point.

Also worked on the skin to cover the sharp edges around the rollbar.

Got them half done, so no done stamp.

Cleaned up all the rollbar welds, so it is ready to paint when I finish bodywork on the rear sections.

Started on rear quarter metalwork. My goal is to continue the body line down and around to the rear hatch.

I also want to keep the same width on the top as the existing body line. I have seen several of these done on MUD that just got capped, and it looks klunky. Anyway, more work to make it "look" right, but this is the way I do things.

So, after a few hours, got the tops how I liked them, then it was just bending and shaping to get a piece of metal to fill the gap.

Got both sides welded up and put on the tailgate. Looks like the old window was about 1/4 higher body line. I want this tailgate to be heavy duty, so I think I will cut off the 1/4 inch then put some 16 gauge steel back over the top.

tailgate metalwork

mount for CB antenna

quarter bodywork

CB

Paint roll bar

Tire Carrier?

Snorkel?

Doesn't sound like Monstaliner will have Cygnus white done in time, so I am planning on rattle can all metal and wait on final primer/paint

did I mention..... 10 days

Mad metal skills!!!

added to the list today...... running low on days.

Bought HF winch....

Bought sliders -- trail gear.

decided to not put on the snorkel. Looks wrong with the throwback theme. Not really planning on water crossings anyway.

I might not get any sleep in next few days...

progress

Monday started off pretty awesome. My little girl set her alarm to wake up early and come help dad out in the garage. She has me wrapped around her finger.....

So, she took off the front bumper in anticipation of the winch, got the rear bumper covers off and helped weld and plasma cut the rear tailgate.

Here are the pics of the finished tube doors that I misplaced

Also, note the steel toed boots on my little one.... I did make her get proper shoes on soon after I took the pic. Notice she is wearing a TLCA shirt too!!

So, I spent most of my free time yesterday working on the tailgate. I took an old fencepost and bent it to the shape of the door and tacked it in place to hold while I made the top.

Taking more time than I thought, but I decided to add some extra metal tabs along the back edge. Lots of welding wire on this project.

Last pics for the weekend.

I got one side transition in place. I like the look a lot. Other side will work on today, Tuesday.

Lots of tacking, but this piece is nearing the finish line.

9 days.

Looking good! You could probably get more done if you didn't have a bunch of gawkers coming by wanting to look at your work.

Also,if your doctor told you not to drink beer, I'd find another doctor.

Just saw your post...... thanks for stopping by. Your FJC is one of the nicest ones I have seen. Looking forward to seeing it at SMORR.

Progress. Mike and rob came over and pitched in last night. Rob did the winch install, with advice and measurements from mikes build.

More pics of the winch install.

Thanks Mike for letting me swing by and get all the measurements and pick your brain.

Thanks Rob for doing all the legwork and not heckling me about messing up the hole drilling operation.
