4th Annual 70 Series Meet & Greet

There are now 32 pages in the "U.S. 70's Registration" thread and I've personally only met a fraction of these folks.
This event is designed to change that. :)

September 28th - 30th ..... Clear your calendar.

There are many ways to socialize at Wind Rock. Here a couple interesting pictures that my daughter snapped of my 70 at Wind Rock this afternoon. GSMTR is this week with venue site being Wind Rock.

What makes these shots interesting is how easy the section was but how intense it looks in the pictures. The 70 is my daily driver so I stick to the bunny trails with a wide yellow stripe down my back.

You see a "bunny trail", I see 15 different ways to wrinkle a fender. :)
(and yes I realize I'm a lightweight)

I know that trail .. and it is a bunny trail unless it is raining. Even you can get up it Chas.

Hello,

Better safe than sorry when a 70 Series is also your DD.

Last year I spent days sending P.M.'s to the majority of folks on this list (U.S. 70's Registration.) inviting them to the event. This year I will be seeking volunteers to help do the same. :)
It would nice to have at least
one example of every 70 Series (LJ, BJ, HJ, HZJ) that is currently in the U.S. present at the event.

No love for the PZJ or FJ? I see how it is. Texas is too far away anyways.

Cut me some slack. I composed the above post before the caffeine had kicked in. We would be delighted to have the PZJ and FJ represented and no, Texas isnt too far away. :)

I attended the Lone Star Texas Round Up in March. Drove my HZJ-73. It was held outside Mason, Texas. I did not feel it was too far.

Perhaps the Meet & Greet is too far for a Texan?

I was just joking with @Gun Runner 5 except for the part that Texas is far away. Being so far down South Texas makes a drive getting out of Texas pretty long drive in any direction unless you want to go to Mexico.

Interesting.

I never received any contact regarding this event last year.

Oh wait, I forgot, I'm not on Charles's approved cool 70 series owner list.

I acknowledge that I'm getting older and my memory isn't what it used to be but I'm almost positive that you donated a
fuel can for our raffle last year which would have required us to communicate. If that's not the case then I apologize
and to be clear, all 70 Series are cool.

Our goal starting with the first event was to chose a venue that was within an 8-12 hour drive of most of the eastern states.
In addition to being a great venue, Windrock generally meets this criteria. Perhaps at some point in the future there should also be a "mid-country" 70 Series event and then everyone will have the opportunity to attend a local event. :)

If the place of the event would change every year I am pretty sure you would see a lot more of these 70 owners , there are already a few Cruiser events at Windrock so for the ones that need to travel a bit further it is hard to choose which event to pick.

Utah,Colrado,Arkansas spring to mind as pretty central and some great gathering/light wheeling possibilities.

Just my 2 cents

A LITTLE HISTORY:

This event originated as an excuse for Peter Brown, Sam Houston and myself to get together with our 70 Series and spend the weekend riding trails and sharing a few meals. Because we reside in three Southeastern States (Georgia, Kentucky & South Carolina) we billed the first get-together as a "Southeastern 70 Series Event". As word spread others decided to join us and we decided to meet in North Alabama. Four years later the event has continued to grow and is now billed as a 4 day event (Thursday through Sunday with Thursday and Sunday being considered travel days).
Because it is basically a weekend event the ability to travel great distances is not an option for many and thus the decision to stick with Windrock.

If anyone else would like to organize an event at an alternate location, I suspect folks would be eager to attend.
