I just chucked em. they were old and cracked and kinda scary.

don't worry, lotsa warts on the 42 when you get close, this was very much a quick and dirty slap er together kinda deal...

no updates, trucks parked in the field cuz theres a thumping great boat trailer in my driveway, however, I just discovered something I'm going to have to contemplate raiding the piggy bank for...

turns out, 4:1 gearsets for the splitcase now exist :hhmm:

and I'm waiting for a callback from a guy with a 24v winch in dubious condition of unknown origins....

he pm'd me to call him, but didn't give a dang ph#...

4:1... How much? Too bad ebrakes on the split case are so dang expensive...

Good luck without the winch.

for all that time you spend on the trail:flipoff2:

yeah I'll track the guy down.

for the tcase ebrake, it's not that bad if you build the setup. think I still have all the parts , but the one on the rear axle is ok for the moment.

looks like the gears are about 1500. less than most of the other options, and no messing with driveshafts.

When I decide to r/b my tcase, I'll be giving it a long think...

MAF Orion Transfer Case Kit

$1524 for an Orion and it should just bolt in for us guys with one piece cases.

yeah, unless somethings changed in the last few years tho, there isn't an h55 version.

and, I'll probably end up with a 5 speed at some point.

but it's moot anyways, doubt I'll be forkin out 1500 bones for parts anytime soon...

christ, you guys are like gaggle of women with all this fxxxin nagging.

You wonder why we do it and then you humor us all with a comment like that...

We should do a fun little sicker run soon before it gets too hot.

Swung by your place last Friday, rig was in the driveway but no one home......

Looking good.

Rob

we talkin yesterday friday or long weekend?

was in vic yesterday collecting a butt ugly 3b and random rusty s*** from steven...and trying not to get tom sawyered into doing a bunch of s*** on his truck....

no idea what I was doing on Zombie Jesus day....my rememberer doesn't seem to go back more than 7 days.

thanks tho. it's ok looking for a quick and dirty rusto. haven't done a damn thing for weeks...too pissed off at the weather and the lack of progress it creates on my shop extension to do much.

Poured the last bit of slab today tho, so hopefully tomorrow I'll get the wall done, and then I'll finally be on the road to getting those FAWKING beams out of my way.

I'm pretty much always home on mondays...

So, not a lot of progress on the 42 in the past few months...

building this shop extension has kindof taken up all my free time. Hired a guy for one day to give me a hand putting up the rafters, and sheathing the roof otherwise pretty much a one man show. ( don't offer free head like steven so I don't get much help...:flipoff2:)

but, I got the skylights in yesterday and finished the ridge shingles, so pretty happy to be done with that bull****. ( shingling a roof sucks balls. even with a coil nailer)

So far I'm liking it, yes the beams are overkill, but it lets me take some time to decide what to do about walls.

( lawn mower wheelie is so I can sharpen the dull as fxxx blades.)

and for cruiser content, in spare moments when I wasn't toiling in the sun , I got the winch I picked up mostly reassemled... going to take the motor in to see whether it can be rewired to 24v, and see what that'd cost. Or I may just let it spin double speed and see how long it lasts...:hillbilly:

need to build some bracketry to mount the sucker on the truck, and that'll be the first project in the shop once I clear out all the crap from building..

nice ... like the new shop...
as for the beam being overkill ... i think its perfect for a chain fall .. you could pull engines no problem... :D

Yeah, that was my thinking. Plus it let me build the roof first... :D

i picked up a trolly for an ibeam too, so eventual plan is to get that working in there.

For now tho pretty happy at the difference the skylights made. Was a tad murky in there before...

So at some point yesterday when it became apparent my death from alcohol poisoning was only inevitable and not immenent, I threw on Steven's dirty laundry...

purpose of this is so that I can keep the truck somewhat dry while I fix up a hard top all purdy like .

Not going to drill any holes for fasteners in the tub, I'll just run it with the sides rolled up.

steve and I still need to do some horsetrading on the hardtop front...
