1970 FJ40, "Mr. Myagi"
Originally white, now tan.
Bought with 5.3L Vortec and NV4500 5-speed and eldebrock ECU.
Front disc brakes.
2" lift, presumably OME
Purchased in 2019, largely as-is. I replaced tires to 285/70 R17 Toyo R/Ts
Replaced garbage aftermarket seats with OEM from a fellow mudder.
Replaced hot rod wheel with old Chevy wheel (shaft is Chevy)
Added Warn Zeon 8k
Coming soon: City Racer LED headlights, City Racer brake booster, 4plus spare tire carrier.

This is undoubtedly my dream vehicle, ever since my next door, older kid neighbor had one when I was 12. I simply knew I had to have one. 31 years later, I made it happen.

I have a 1970 and the seats were bench. I do not believe the seats you have are stock. They may be later Toyota but in 1970 bench seats were stock. They actually do not look like later Toyota. They look like CCOT aftermarket.

During the Aug 1974- Aug 1978 period, I performed FOUR additional Valve
Jobs on same #4 Exhaust! The last valve sold to me by the Toyota Dealership was the
"new, upgraded Stellite Valve"!!! U.S Auto Mfgs STARTED using them at the end of
WWII!
Summer 1978. Purchased an Adapter kit to fit a rebuilt 1967 Cadillac 429 cid V-8 and
TH400, onto FJ40's T-Case. (THIS solved the "burned valve" issue!)
1978-1993. Logged OVER 300K "trouble-free" miles on Caddy V-8!
Used FJ40 to tow 23ft, 6000 Travel Trailer all around Texas, Missouri, Arkansas,
Colorado for hunting, vacations and misc trips.
Titled in Missouri from 1986-1990. Circa 1990 "First Repair": replaced Acceleration
Valve in Holley Carb.
Titled in Texas 1990.
1975-1993. Daily Driver, Hunting Vehicle and all-round "Farm Truck"
Mid 1993. Cadillac V-8 started "blowing oil". Parked same.
Mid 1993- Late 2020 turned-down dozens of "offers to buy" my '74 FJ40. Highest
CASH Offer (turned down).... $25,000 As-It Sat!! (dead on four flat tires!)
Late 2020- to present. Started "accumulating" and researching parts to "rebuild" the
FJ40 back to a "Better Than New" condition ;-}

I do have a few photos on my "Ground Pounder" being used in the manner intended.. they are just "scattered about" in
a LOT of different boxes!! I'll see what I can do, Doc is making noises about "Hip Replacement Surgery" I'm
too busy for that type of "interruption", right now!! Also restoring my 1953 Jaguar XK120 DHC (one of 1471 built!).. purchased
in May '67 for $300... wife of five months spotted this car!!

I purchased this truck used from Gomer Jones Dodge in Prescott, Arizona in 1978 when I was 24, with 32,000 miles on her for $3,400.00 in very nice condition. She was a tan hard top, and had been converted to bucket seats, 3 speed, had add-on air conditioning that actually worked pretty well. Another “wish I hadn’t” but sold her sometime before i moved to Alaska in 81 to a guy who said “ I’ll take it. I love it. Will you take $X less for it?”

I found the serial number just tonight as I was going through some ancient files. Interestingly, I was in an accident with her where I rear ended a Chevy pickup that stopped short at an intersection. That Chevy rear ended a Ford 4X4 that had no damage. The Chevy was a total. It cost me $125.00 to straiten and paint the left fender and replace the turn signal.
