Gonna check timing with a light and check fuel pressure. Cam said the supplied fuel pump might have to much pressure. But it is sweet to crank on first try![]()
I'm thinking you don't have enough fuel pressure, that happened to me. I was fine thru 2nd gear then it went to s***.
I'm pretty sure Todd's issue is timing. Mainly 'cuz he hasn't put a light on it yet.
What pump were you using originally Mr.Vicegrips? And what did you end up with? The only pump for sell on the AFI site is rated at "over 70psi", when tbi's call for somewhere in the 11-13 range.
I swapped over to a Walbro 15 psi pump (recommended for tbi) for noise reasons (this Walbro is silent) and it doesn't run out of steam, even at highway speeds.
Another reason I switched pumps is 'cuz I was having some issues on steep hills with gas leaking out of the tbi and flooding it out. My thinking was that the 70 psi was too much for the internal pressure regulator to handle and it was finding it's way out. I also put in a new pressure regulator rubber thingy and tightened all the screws. I haven't had a chance to see if this fixes it yet.
