What's the best way to remove this black door panel adhesive? Looks like one of the PO got a little crazy with it and it is gooped up on the bottom part of door. It's always getting on the kids and ruining their clothes.

Try WD 40 or bug & tar remover.

My recommendation, too. I have done this on the sound deadening in the floorboard of a 4Runner. Works very well. Makes the stuff shatter when hit with a chisel.

Guys is there anything besides a bad fuel pump that would keep gas from getting to the carb?

Lines from pump to carb have been checked and are clear. I have pulled the fuel filter, and am running a rubber fuel line straight from the pump to a 5gal gas can. But I get nothing through to the carb...

That is practically a brand new fuel pump (6mo old kyosan), but am running out of things to blame.

Did your fuel pump come with a spacer and a gasket? I know Shush had a problem when he tried to install his mechanical pump on his 76 because it doesn't require the spacer. The pump was too far away from the teeth so it didn't engage.

Yeah and I didn't use it. The pump worked great up until last weekend. The fact that its just a mechanical pump has me thinking maybe it's just clogged??

It's 2 bolts.....I would remove and check the spring and arm. Make sure you can see the cam shaft and that the pump is seated snug and flush to the block. If that's good and lines are good that only leaves the carb?

Carb is good, just not getting gas.

I'm gonna pull the pump this weekend see what's going on.

My money is on a bad spring or the gasket/ diaphram ( sp?) in the pump dry rotted and isn't creating suction

Sorry, I'm out on carb/mechanical fuel pump issues!
I fought fuel/carb problems for 9 months and spent $600 - $700 dollars and still didn't get it right.
Needless to say,.. I went with AFI. No more problems PERIOD!

That being said I am having a little backfiring issue with my AFI. Could be with the timing but I have adjusted and readjusted with no help. It idles fine but when you start going it Boggs down and has a backfire. I need to check my fuel pressure but it is spraying fine so I don't think that's the issue. Any ideas?

Also just FYI there is a good deal on a 2f fuel injection kit in the classified ads. I think 700.00 bucks with intake and header

Damn sorry Toyota parts! I only got 35 years out of the Toyota fuel pump on my 40! Ha! I assume it was the original pump (I never touched it). Went out a couple of miles from camp in Hot Springs at the top of Ultimate Adventure. Not a real fun tow back to camp with most of it down hill.

What kind of pump did you buy? Was it new?

You sure you plugged all the un-needed vac ports on the truck and tbi?

Todd, cam is correct. make dam sure you don't have a vac leak. there is also an outside chance that you may have a bad computer. that was one of my problems, I got another one and I have no problems at all. But first make SURE you have no vac leaks!

Gonna check timing with a light and check fuel pressure. Cam said the supplied fuel pump might have to much pressure. But it is sweet to crank on first try

I'm thinking you don't have enough fuel pressure, that happened to me. I was fine thru 2nd gear then it went to s***.
