I would jump all over that one, but my guess is it's already gone. Prices have gone way up on 40s for sure.

talking to the owner now. it needs the engine rebuilt they say. but it runs currently. yes.. prices have gone up.

Just from the photos, I would take that one. Looks pretty dang solid and they would probably go down a little on price. And original owner??? Take it and run. I didn't really see ANY sketchy mods. You can rebuild the 2F or find a good runner for cheap. Looks really solid.

My guess a 1/75-12/75 top and ambulance doors. 74 still had a hatch and 1/76-8/76 would have a brackets for three point seat belts spot welded to hard top sides.

You're like a FJ40wikipedia.

I'm thinking a buyer is in trouble when they start rationalizing the faults in a vehicle they're considering.
" The fuel pump hase a vapor lock problem, so he has wired in a new aftermarket one under the seat. The winch controller is under the hood. He doesn’t know if there was an accident or now for the hood being a bit off, but it didn’t appear screwed up. There is a little gap on the passenger side fender. That’s all I can think of. It looks like it’s salvageable. It just needs a little love. "
This thing is going to take a lot of time and money if the plan is to make it correct.

the '77 is what I am talking about - Go see it with cash.

77 looks nice and a solid price even with a motor needing rebuilt. The real issue is can you get to it fast enough that it's not gone. Anyone with the cash and desire for a FJ40 should jump on that thing. 77-83 are the really desired one's IMO.
