4-door First Gen 4Runner?

i think some one bolted a Toyota front clip onto some other rig, maybe a British made vehicle!

Except that the lower body line matches up the whole way.

Kind of like this

That was my thought - that it kept the cab roof and then grafted on from there just like a normal 4Runner.

If it were a Photoshop, I'd expect them to have gone to less trouble and just stretched a normal 4Runner to add a rear door. The back cap isn't anything like a normal 4Runner and the rear quarter panel is something different too.

I'll believe this truck exists when I see more photos, higher res, from multiple angles. Until then, IMO it's a 'chop.

This was also posted on Yotatech. the gentleman said that he was only able to get one picture due to the situation at hand (something about rural dogs?).

He posted up that apparently toyota of thailand had done special conversions to incountry vehicles. Either way, it looks cool!

This reminds me of the "4Runner in the River" thread from long ago, I think it was on Yotatech. Some guy started a thread about finding a 4Runner completely submerged in some river, on a trail run. Funny how everybody's cameras were mysteriously broken. Eventually he faded away, never produced a photo or proof.

Yeah, I gotta admit that it is always suspicious how these "rare" items never get a good set of pictures and there is always some reason that they can't go back for more. Short of being shot at, I'd at least take a couple minutes to take a few clear shots. I'll give you that.

I still think it is a neat idea.

Hey gents, this is what I think is a 4 door 1st gen 4Runner, I spotted it in a movie and did some research to find it. Looks a lot different than the one posted by OP.

I do Photoshop for a living. This is definitely shopped. Maybe it was done to see what it looked like. It is a good job, but not great. The weaknesses are in the roof line and the aspects. the tops slants slightly down toward the rear... more than it should for the stance angle to the camera. Also, there is a vertical seam between the two roof colors that follow directly along the pixel division. This also doesn't jive with how the angle would be on a true roof to hardtop line.

How long would it take you to fake a 1st Gen 4 door like the first pic?

I agree the line between the roofs looks a little too vertical, but why would they mess with a part of the picture that they absolutely didn't have to change at all?

As for the aspect, my camera phone takes screwy skewed photo's too... It's not a great photo that's for sure...

Pixel line, convenient for sure, but not out of the question I'd say odds are better than 1/100 of getting close enough that a photo that low of resolution would have a straight pixel line between the roof and body...

I do not think it was done to "see what it would look like" it's far too good to be a 15 minute job...

Yeah, it has screwy details either way. If it is a Photoshop:
  • why not just stretch a regular 4Runner and have the "square bubble" over the rear wheel
  • why isn't the rear door angled like on the black one? It would make sense to mimic the two door?

Where do you put fuel in this thing? It should be there under the rear door handle....do you fill it from under the rear seat?

NVM, I see it!

Like a 4 door heep. You might as well buy an H3

I think they used doors off a double cab, and just build a custom rear end for it on a long wheelbase truck frame. Seems like Toyota had all the parts laying around to make 4 door 1st Gen 4Runners except a rear end to tie it all together. Which is why I think it's real, though built in low numbers...

Ok well I've done Photoshop for a living too. (no offense) But I'd have to disagree. I think its real. The transistion from pixel to pixel is to smooth for human imput. If it is fake, its pretty dare good. Its far to blurry to tell for certain, and like other have said, we'd have to hold judgment untill we see a better photo but for now Im going with its real.
