I lent my truck and trailer to an old student teacher so I got stuck here at the shop for a lot longer than I planned.

So I shot the dash and cowl.

I still haven't decided on gray or white for the dash and it's easy enough to switch to gray later.

A big reason for this push over break is to get the dash and firewall in paint so we can start wiring and plumbing.

And in case your wondering - A PO welded the steering column to the firewall when the power steering was done so it was easiest just to mask it off.

Gumby, I believe the dashes were Gray. I think the entire interior was the same ugly Gray. Mark

It looks like most dashes were gray and some interiors were. It looks like most of the colors were dependent on what the guys at Figu thought they might want to do that day.

I like how the white dash looks on Buckroseau's rig and the colors aren't going to be correct anyway.

I just don't know if it'll be too much white.

I'm thinking it might be too white. That is probably why they went w gray. We need to figure out what the color is. I think it was posted before. I an going with Spring Green and white. And Grey interior I guess. I have no paint experience so not too excited about spraying another color. I have only shot Epoxy primer so far and it was a pain to mix up.

I was using a mixing cup to mix the paint, but I found some really nice disposable cups at ACE hardware that even have part charts on the side. Makes it really easy to mix small amounts of two and three part parts. They were in the paint department.

I'm hoping with the carpet and door panels being different it'll be OK. The gauges and glove box will help to break it up too. My underdash will be full of AC as well.

I used the paint cups from the paint supply store, with the numbers on the side. Do reuse them during your spray session or toss them as you go. Maybe the PIA for me was that I had to mix and shoot over a gallon of Epoxy primer to cover one entire vehicle. I am not sure if the gun was adjusted correctly or if I was spraying too much paint? How much paint did you mix up for the areas you have painted?

white it is... looks great. I say leave it.

I agree with Goebeler. There is no such thing as too much white. Besides, you'll have gauges, switches and a bunch of other things to break up the solid white, so I don't think it'll be as blinding when it's all assembled.

I re-use them as long as I can keep them clean easily. High build kills them quick.

Between the two trucks with a coat of epoxy over the self etch and another thin coat over the high build I've used most of 2 gallons so far. I'm probably going to have to get another, although PPG has another product for a corrosion resistant sealer they recommend with the Concept paint.

I ordered three gallons of paint for the two trucks. I put all the product I had out on a cart today and was kind of amazed at how much there was.

A gallon of filler w/ hardener
A pint of glazing putty w/ hardner
A gallon of self etch
A gallon of wash catalyst for the self etch
2 gallons of reducer - need another
A gallon of gun cleaner (2nd)
2 gallons of Lily White
1 gallon of Pyrite Mica
1 gallon of hardener for the paint
1 qt of white
2 cans of guide coat
2 tubes of seam sealer
1 gallon of K38 high build (2nd gallon, need a third)
2 quarts high build catalyst
1 gallon DP90LF (2nd, need a third)
1 gallon DP90 catalyst
Boxes of 80,120,240 sticky discs
box of 120 long board sticky strips
packages of 240, 400 and 800 wet dry need 1200 for color sanding.

I'm sure I'm missing something and that's just the consumables.

Been here, just quiet.
Loving this thing! I move March 1 to the new crib so hoping I can create a new shop in the detached 3 car and get back to cruiser crap again. Lurking is all i can do these days. Then again I am enjoying watching you build Whitey and I's wagon.

Remember, I have something special for it when all done. The icing on the cake. have the jack all painted up as well sitting on the shelf.

The more white the better!

I know they're supposed to be body colored but anybody paint their turn signal housings in pewter or something similar?

I think that's what TLC did. I like it on that truck.

Mine are sandblasted and wire wheeled at the moment and they look pretty cool.

they come that metal color new from toyota when you order replacements. early in my thread should show new signals on my fenders. Stock from factory when they came ON the truck was body color.
Choice is yours.. Grey like bumper and bumperettes or body color.
Mirror arms are the same way. come ON the truck body color. replacements grey.

Went to Fastenal on the way home last night and bought 100 each of 8mmx20, 8x30, and 6x20 bolts with nuts and washers.

Started putting stuff on the front clip and dash today.

Put the pedal hanger and pedal in. Put the e-brake handle in. Put the ignition switch in. Put some pull knob I have no idea what it does in.

Obviously I cleaned up the t/s housings and put those on. Then I PM'ed Beno about availability of them and he found some OEM NOS ones. The ones I cleaned up are good enough for the SWB, but I don't know if it's not just worth it to get 4 instead of 2 for the price.

Polished the bezel on the ignition switch before I put that on and polished the apron badges and a ratty old grill badge, but they were not in great shape. The running lamps were in really bad shape. It really didn't seem like Goebs. He likes buying stuff. So when I got home I started looking and found the magic box of happiness. New hood latches, badges, lenses and baggies well marked with fasteners. Tomorrow will be a fun day.

Polished the hood spear too, but I'll probably just buy two new repops. The SWB's is worthless and the LV is pitted bad enough that $60 right on the middle of the hood would be silly to skrimp on.

Hoping Shane from Metric TLc gets some pewter powder in soon and some automatic shift plates for the glove box door. I need to do the gauge cluster and glove box door.
