I took the oil pan off to check for sludge and check the integrity of the pan. I side is pristine and no sludge but there were a couple rice grain sized metal chunks and a couple fingernail sized shavings. What else should I inspect before putting the pan back on?

I HAPPENED TO NOTICE A MISSING PISTON COOLING JET ONE TIME WHILE LOOKING UP INTO A 3B. NOT SURE HOW THAT HAPPENED, BUT YOU GOTTA HAVE 'EM.

I'd check a main and big end bearing. I did on one of my Suzukis once found the big ends were delaminating.

Disintegrated cam bearings seem pretty common on 3Bs. Might be where your metal is from.
