Comes down to profitability in the US and worldwide. I have no idea if the current sales volumes meet the profitability or sales targets of Toyota/Lexus.

SUV’s in general are selling like hot cakes, while sedan sales are falling. Cost of gas also has something to do with this. If we ever see $4-$5 regular unleaded the SUV sales willl fall off a cliff.

Toyota has Rav 4, Highlander, 4 Runner, Sequoia and LC. You could argue that LC and Sequoia are similar, except for off road capabilities. Lexus has similar problems that one model cannibalizes sales of other models.

At the very least, it will be interesting to see what Toyota/Lexus does with redesigns and new or discontinued models. The Sequoia, LC and LX need updating one way or another.

Crossovers and pickups are selling like hot cakes. Body-on-frame SUVs are a different market than large crossovers.

What about Tahoe/ Suburban, Expedition, Nissan Armada, etc. There is certainly a thirst in America for BOf truck like suvs. The challenge the LC/ LX faces is that it is more expensive, less luxurious, smaller, and thirstier than those above. The only exception would be the Armada in the thirst department.
I chose the LC because I was smaller than those, but i am likely in the minority. Also for the capabilities.
I will say that I certainly miss the appointments, features, and sound system from my GMC Sierra.

Hit post too soon...
Where I think Toyota has a huge opportunity to capitalize on is the 10's of thousands of 4 Door Wrangler owners who now have 2-3 kids, plus a dog or two, and want to ride in something a lot more comfortable, but still have the desire to get out in the dirt. The GC is not that vehicle. We have one, and its smaller inside that the Wrangler. Scaling the LC down a bit to hit a 50-60K mark i think would be money. Maybe Mr. T believes that the 4Runner holds this spot.

I had a GC trailhawk that was terrible. All kinds of electrical problems, left me stranded twice in bad locations which is why I had it for only 2 years. Long story but short version it was my attempt to buy another American car (other is Tesla). However I think there is a market for exactly what you are talking about it will be interesting to see what Jeep does with the new grandwagoneer in terms of market, price, configuration, specs. My guess is it will be directly in the LC/LX range for all. But horribly unreliable.

I also can’t help but think there is a market for LCs if Toyota marketed it more. Look at how many Raptors ford sells at $80k+, now GM and Ram also have their version of the Off road truck in the market so it must be profitable.

^^^ Haha. I think it’s wandered around since probably no one outside of Toyota RnD really knows anything about the 300 at this point. So we are all just guessing, wishing, dreaming, and arm chair quarterbacking.

Toyota USA just posted two 200 series photos to their Instagram account....so they still care about it at least somewhat

The good news for you is that unlike these “luxurious” (lol) GM vehicles you mention, your Land Cruiser doesn’t depreciate rapidly, so you can go ahead and trade it back in on a wonderfully appointed Sierra.

The 300 series needs bigger wheel wells!

My number one annoyance on the 200 platform.

Clearly sized for a 31.5 inch tire. Of course, the platform is over 10 years old.

Lol. Trust me, not trading mine back in on a GMC. I traded a ‘16 Sierra loaded out on an ‘08 LC. I had zero expectations that the technology was going to be on par. I’d say my LC is pretty similar tech wise to my ‘07 Tahoe LTZ. Haven’t been in an ‘18 LC, so can’t compare to the new GMCs.

Also agree on the depreciation.

Oh come on.. we could have had some fun with that for a while. The Best thing with that is mainstream media was picking up on it, not reading correctly and then embelishing on the story and printing it as if they had a scoop. It came from the 300 series facebook group. We have had a LOT of fun with that one :D

When there are a dozen threads FILLED with bogus 300 stuff...

Sorry... I guess I was a party poop... :(

Ya really have to hand it to Toyota though. It is truly INCREDIBLE that they have managed to keep it so completely INVISIBLE.

Apple needs to go and take secrecy lessons.
By the time Apple does their big, showy reveal...EVERYONE already knows what’s coming.

McDonald’s has NOTHIN on Mr. Toyota.
The real SECRET SAUCE belong to the LC design crew.

Heck, the US CIA could learn about keeping secrets fromC productions...sigh.

This is the best looking render I've seen so far...
