Hello all.. Names Jason, been dreamin about one day owning a Cruiser (Toyota nut since I realised the Samurai I build wasn't cuttin it).. I work part time for Cruiser Outfitters here in UT, and a friend (on the board can't remember his screen name-B Passey) offered me a deal I couldn't refuse. I picked up both of his pigs for a song and a dance, and i'm still dancing. Ok, maybe not but i'm stoked nonetheless.

You might remember "Clementine" from earlier threads from Brian as he found, and doctor'd her up a bit over the last year or so.. She's still running great! I fell in love with Clementine earlier this year when I rode with Kurt on the first annual 'Relic Run'; at which the Passey clan loaded up with their 2 kids, dog, and super relic camping equipment for a 300+ mile circumnavigation of the Great Salt Lake. Clementine was the coolest rig on the trip, and everyone knew it. I snapped b&w photos on my 40y/o 35mm camera that were hanging on my wall even before I bought her!

We love the new addition to the family!

Then there's the other pig... (Some of you probably know more about this one than I do; Passey bought from someone in CO IIRC). This one is currently in pieces missing a motor.

Here's what we have planned for the red one:

My idea: FJ55 pickup with Aussie style trayback. Most likely receiving a 4.7 V8.. SOA, 35" tires, lockers, etc..

Congrats on the Pigs!

The body on the red Pig looks pretty clean to be chopping it.

Thanks!

From what I understand, the body is filled with loads of expanding foam and bondo.. I picked it up at night, stored it the same night, and haven't seen it since.. Sooo, I haven't had the chance to inspect the ins/outs of the red one.

Luv the photo of your lady and the dog looking out the back window:cheers:

Well hellooo!
Glad to hear she is still working out for you, Are you going to have her ready for this weekend?

Hello sir Passey.. I'm taking the Xterra this trip.. It's gonna be cold, and with the exhaust leak in the Cruiser I know i'd have a headache all weekend :(

Got bored yesterday.. Here's a simplified idea of what i'm going to start building this winter.

Here's a simple version of the bed.. RTT mounting system. I want to mount it to a slide out drawer type system.

The slide out system will allow me to leave a canopy in place and still utilize the RTT. I'd need to find some beefy telescoping poles or something to stabalize the end farthest from the truck.. But i have no doubt that it's doable. Underneath the bed, and inbetween the framerails will be a pull-out drawer storage space for recovery gear, spare parts and tools..

Jason,

Welcome to the Pig Pen and congratulations.

I was the second to last CO owner of the Red Pig. I got it (indirectly) from a Kurt (last name escapes me) who lived north of SLC and had put a 3FE in it.

I say that I got it indirectly from him b/c I was going to buy it, and then had to decline when my :princess: and I got pregnant with our little guy. Instead, I drove another local cruiser-head out to SLC and he bought, started driving it back to CO and it broke down in Rock Springs, WY. Kurt came out, drove my buddy home and the Pig sat on I-70 until it got impounded. Kurt had limited time and enthusiasm to deal with this Pig, so he called me asking if I still wanted it. I did, but we did not know waht was wrong with it. I bought it, it sat in Cheyenne for about a year until I got it down to CO and got it running. Shortly after that I saw a nice Pig body (no engine) in New Mexico. I bought that Pig, took the 3FE out of the Red Pig and transplanted it. It took me a year of :bang: and :wrench: and  before I got it working correctly. After removing the 3FE, I sold Red Pig to timmbuck2 of Rising Sun in Denver.

And that is all I have to say about that! :D

^Looks fun! :) I've had a few trips like that through Wyoming..

Fun to see some of the recent lineage Pablo.. Did you do any of the body work to the red pig at all?

Negative Ghost Rider!

I cannot/will not take any credit for the bodywork!!!

When I was considering buying it from Russell (did I say Kurt earlier?) he said it was a father/son team who learned their bodywork skills on it. As soon as they got the body finished the 1F siezed. They were done at that point, so Russell picked it up with the thought of doing a 3FE project.

At one point I found Russell's pre-build thread on Pirate. He was asking questions about how to put a FI engine in a pre-FI body. You could probably still find it in the Land Cruiser section of Pirate.

Like I said, she is a good little Pig, but has been through a lot. I hope you can give her a good home...

OK Sami, get your shoes on, this is a wild trip.

Remember the campfire story about the kid who parked his rig at a guy's house named Russel? Ummm, do you now own that Cruiser

As I recall he still has the title, wanna look up your VIN number

I got a valid CO title on the Pig I bought from Russel, passed it on to Timm...

Is there scariness around that VIN?
