Do you guys have "quick set up" tents, or do you take the time to set up the same tent you use at ueharrie? That's my only worry. My tent isn't the quickest to set up.l, and doing it everyday doesn't sound amazing.

We have old people with us, who have huge tents . . . . you will be fine - you will beat us all up and down each day I am sure :)

Now if you need an excuse to buy a new tent . . . then . ."yes you must be fast in the mornings - - Izzy doesn't eat food, he just drives . . and Stan and Heather keep a strict schedule that requires we meet very tight timelines."

No we don't!

No worries at all Ryan, we are about as lax is it gets regarding any form of schedule.

One thing I can almost guarantee is that the ladies will all get together and convince us we need gas or water or something, experience has shown that this is a ploy to get us to a bathroom and some hot water that comes from a sink.

Izzy will be our fearless leader.

All diesels will be in the back of the pack (following a diesel all day on trails gets a bit smelly).

We have no clue where we will go. We just know that we will meet at the rest stop on Rt 40 West just before MM8 where we turn off onto Hurricane Creek trail.

Those who are bringing kids. Please prep them in advance that they will be in charge of gathering firewood for our nightly fires.

"Your legs are younger than mine" :)

If you guys can't tell, Heather and I are very excited about this trip! I just ordered the "secret weapon" for the truck bed so that I don't have to make Heather climb in the back to get me new underwear each day .. or two . . .

:)

I still have 2 wheels to blast and paint, tires to buy and have mounted................

We are looking forward to it as well, we have both been pushing hard for about the last 9 months without anything more than a day off at a time. I've not done much else to the 80 other than drive it a couple times a week.

And when prepping your kids, use enough salt to the meat doesn't spoil. But we will first eat the dogs unless they can hunt.
We will be driving stage rally style, so keep heavy items in low places to avoid flipping like a Ford Exploder.
Any breakdowns will be left behind as a sacrifice to the mountain gods, your truck parted out between surviving members.

And bring me a hard boiled egg for dinner. Long live Shackleton!

^^ Oh my! LOL classic.

I did hope to bring my 14-year-old daughter and our dog Dexter. I better rethink that!

Sam wont get close enough for Izzy to dine on him :) Besides, he can hunt. If you like varmint for dinner.

Was hoping you were gonna bring Dexter (also Heather's truck's name)

14 year old girls can carry lots of wood to the fire ring.

I can't remember if anyone has a Oztent or RTT that can set up in less than 5. I have a popup canopy and a tent that attaches to it for summer. I think is quick setup, but I have never time it, but I do like my comfort including fake grass mats for my "porch".

I can setup my Big Agnes in less than 30 seconds!

We had reservations to do the BREW-ed tour in Asheville THU the 25th. The owner of the tour sent me a note saying he will not have a guide that day - so we may have to go on the 26th at 3 PM or skip it.

@weejub my wife and I have rented a place in Bryson City from Friday-Monday. I think we were going to hit up either the Eno release at Catawba, or the Hawaiian release at New Belguim Friday on our way up. If your in the area and want to join, let me know.

Patrick - That sounds fun! Found out our daughter has EOG testing (whatever that means, but she can't miss supposedly) on Friday - so we are looking at all options now to include waiting to pick her up, or just leaving her at home with our Son.

We are getting a gift card for the tour vs go Friday PM.

I think we are going to possibly avoid Asheville due to the beer week.

More to come. Considering VRBOs near Hurricane Creek, like this one and others :)

^^this one is a little pricey, but I thought everyone would like to see it :)

Wow only 1 bedroom and no pets, nm :)
Wicked weed should not be crowded if you head downtown.

If it is not crowded on a Fri night in Asheville, I can't see it being all that good.

It used to be great, it now belongs to A-B InBev
I think it being boycotted by the more serious Asheville beer types

Its beer week in Asheville, so its gonna be crazy downtown. I'm sure Wicked Weed will be fine.
