@weejub @jdayment
The wife and I plan to leave Charlotte around 10:00. That should get us to Asheville around 12:30, I think we will grab lunch when we get there. With the wife being pregnant, I am afraid for my own well being if we wait to eat lunch till 2:45. @weejub if you are eating at White Duck we might get up with you there. I figure we can all meet at New Belguim at 2:45 for some afternoon drinks.

We can probably make it to new Belgium at 2:45. All depends on when we leave and what time we check in to our air bnb.

OK boys and girls. Just a little update. Weather in Hot Springs is looking like 60s for the lows and low 80s for the highs. Chance of isolated thunder storms. Be prepared for fowl weather.

Extra tarps never hurt
extra rope and stakes if you have them
dry firewood, every little bit helps
a shovel

Del Rio TN is the other weather location. Get ready for self sufficiency and wetness, and slippery conditions for travel.

Is anyone going "never been off-road"? Real question, there is always a first time and we want to be safe with truck placement in convoy.

Son and I are sleeping in the truck! According to some sources I should be ok with my awning so as long as there is room we can deploy it as well.

Been wheeling plenty of times and got some fairly new Mud tires to tryout!

Also, if ANYONE wants me to email them the GPX (or for Avenza) files for routes we might be following, send me an email to izzysanchez1@icloud.com. I will send the files directly from the ap.

I have about an hour of work to do tomorrow that I will likely do from the road somewhere. We are going to try to get to Mt Pisgah as EARLY tomorrow as possible to get a spot and then will likely hit the grocery store, the area etc.

The weather I am seeing from Weather.com for Waynesville, Hot Springs, etc is the following:

THU: Rainy AM/Mid-day
FRI: Sunny
SAT: Partly Cloudy, 20% Chance
SUN: Thunderstorms PM

My wireless is 913 908 8690 (I will delete this in a few days). Shoot me a text if you want (anyone). thx!

My cell is 864-325-2313. Got one of those fancy radios but yetto figure it out.

Yup, I got a ham too but I'm gonna have to hand it to @Izzyandsue and have him set it to whatever channel y'all are on this weekend.

No clue how to use it.

Cell is 3362130760

We'll have a couple FSR radios

... Be prepared for fowl weather...dry firewood, every little bit helps.

Adding new windshield wipers on the to list. All my dry firewood got rained on the past few days.

I don't have any wood, but I'll have a sharp axe...

Is there plenty of height clearance on the trail tree wise? Don't want to rip my foxwing off.
I was re-reading some of the posts to make sure we are good to go and this got me thinking. The trail changes, this isn't a "manicured trail" (I like those too at the Biltmore), this are wilderness trails and with the recent storms I wouldn't be surprised if we have to detour, move debris, cut a tree or two.

So for everyone, be ready to move things out from the roof, and bring a saw. Someone with a chainsaw even better.

We prepped yesterday from 5 AM until 4:30 PM when we left . . . finally. Wife (Heather) was also cleaning the house as we went . . so .. . not good for being on time :) I also finished the truck wiring - so not all her fault, hehe. We spent a lot of time packing the truck for the first time with the new Bed Slide, so hopefully we have a plan going forward.

Thu and Fri are kind of anniversary days for Heather and me as we (I had to) cancelled plans last month.

We ended up getting in around 10 PM to Asheville. We called Marriott on the way and they gave us a military rate of $107 at the Renaissance - so we took it. They will also provide that rate tonight (after I asked very nicely vs $349 they quoted), so I took that too, and my "shame" is to post it here on these boards :) - - especially given I have 4-5 days of gear and supplies and a lot of food ready to go to camp LOL. Part of my punishment is to go see what we are missing at Mt Pisgah Campgrounds this AM :)

We hit Pack's Tavern for about 30 mins before it closed - had a couple beers.

Today we are getting a few supplies and meeting everyone!
