I use this app a lot for biking and hiking in the area, but don't if the off-road community knows of this:
Avenza Maps - How it works

If your phone gets GPS signals, you have off-line maps if you've downloaded the maps beforehand. I think the map for Max Patch/Hurricane Creek is even a free one.

I should

@MaryTandra and I decided to take Friday off and we got an airbnb in asheville. If anyone will,be downtown, let us know. @weejub

Nice Ryan and Tandy! Can we all plan to meet at like 2:30 PM or something at someone's favorite spot?

Patrick mentioned a couple above.

We are a week out folks!

Everyone still on board?

I'm still on board. My work schedule looks light on Friday, so I can probably hang out.

So we are't quadrupling up on gear, who all is bringing what? I have plenty of dry local firewood, and I can bring a chainsaw. I'd rather leave my stove and lantern home if someone else is bringing some.

We also bring wood, no chain saw here. We carry a propane and charcoal grill and I know that Jamie and Heather will have more than one way to cook. Izzy will have a grill I am sure, though not sure what duties it will have outside coffee and boiled eggs :)

I think this group is also pushing at being so-so camp foodies. We all bring a little something different and lots of food is passed around. Izzy always has real cream for the morning coffee. It may seem minor now, but Sun morning I'll be getting my coffee fix with Izzy. Heather and I sat around this morning discussing food and provisions. The major part of which was components for kabobs :)

Do not be shy about trying to gain a reputation as the camp cook. There are plenty who are well prepared to test out your qualifications for the job!!

My kids won't each much so don't be surprised when you see me warming up little ceasars pizza on a camp stove for them.

^^Love this post :)

Heather and I actually discussed eating ONLY Kabobs this trip LOL. I could see us doing beef/chicken/shrimp/beef/chicken/shrimp the rest of our lives if we had to - -of course add some avocados, rice, lime, veggies etc :)

If wanted, we can bring a big propane stove and charcoal table for the group. We also have a giant skillet. We can bring all that and share for all of us. If others want to bring their own stoves, we may go down to our smaller Coleman.

Here are the big ones:

Explorer Two Burner Stove
Camp Table with Legs 32

We also have a charcoal grill like Stan/Heather's we can share.

Not a woman, so I don't cook....

Coleman Grill may make some 80% fat hamburgers or sausages.

As at Carolina Beach last night camping, my trusty mattress would get soft every 5 hours! That would suck on long trip, ordered replacement this morning.

We will have our coleman stove, a fridge full of water and beer for the campfires. We will also have a small yeti for our meat. Since this is our first time on a trip like this, im sure we will be the least prepared of the group. Sorry in advance if we forget some things and end up having to borrow a thing or two.

Ordered an instant tent friday. Should be here tomorrow. We love amazon prime.

I am trying to keep my priorities onto preparing for this trip but it is VERY hard after picking up my 2017 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R this weekend.

@96Cruiser13 - I love the two cooler system - have been trying to talk my Wife into it for a while, but she wants a cooler for drinks up front :\

I guess we will be just stuffing a bunch of ziplock'd meats into a tupperware to try to keep it isolated from the other stuff :)

I could survive off of peanut butter and banana sandwiches all weekend and be thrilled about it. But Ryan is too "Boston" for that. I might prep some chicken salad or something easy for lunches, and can make extra to share.

I plan on sandwich makings, sausages, chicken and burgers. Maybe some breakfast items. Some junk food as kids will be with me as well.
I will probably only bring my Coleman two burner and a frying pan. I have one of the Chinese coolers as well to bring full of drinks and such.
