The free CHIRP programming software supports the Kenwood but not the Yaesu at this point.

CHIRP is great for the Kenwood, Baofeng, and SOME Yaesu units. However, the Yaesu software is very good on its own, so I would stick with that.

The Kenwood software is pretty crappy and the Baofeng is impossible to program without something.

There is a good amount of user support for both the Kenwood units and the Baofeng units. Both have their own Yahoo mail list.

Thanks good to know:cheers:

I never posted pics of the dash install, so here they are. The flash really illuminated the space between the radio and dash. It really doesn't look quite that bad.

Thanks Easy to see and a clean look.
Out of curiosity what antenna and mount did you end up with? So many choices

That's gonna look great in the minivan.

Funny guy...

Actually I want to be able to move it between the 60 and the 40 easily... I may need to pick your engineering/electrical guru brain on this one...

I used to do that with my first 2800; just buy a second mobile mount and power connector and you're golden. Actually, I still move my Kenwood TM-D710A back and forth. It uses the same "T" power connector as the Yaesu did, and it will even fit (with some small spacers) in the 2800 mount.
