No, the alternator belt is nearest to the block, then the air conditioner is in the middle, and the PS pump on the outside:

I had the wrong photo, its GarethsSixty engine photo, I fixed my post as I thought it was your 60 because they are both whitish in colour?

When do you think your will have it finished?

Gotcha.

This 60 will be "finished" by the second week of September I hope. We've got the transfer case 90% rebuilt, so we've got to finish that, finish weld the mounts, drop the drivetrain in and button up all the little things :D

Button up all the little things like fuel, electric, cooling, ps, maybe even A/C. It's going to be a marathon.

To wrap this up, Shasta (the FJ60 being converted) now runs and drives. No issues whatsoever as a result of the alignment weirdness. Pulled out the motor one last time to weld up the mounts and rebuild the split-case, then she was installed for good.

Here are some pics:

Just buttoning up the little things now. As always, thank you ladies and gentlemen  Couldn't do it without your help.

I'm right in the middle of this now. My motor will not align though. I can't raise it high enough to weld in the drs mount. The damm thing wedges against the firewall and tunnel.

George from valley hybrids is also doing one. He thinks my trans cross member is not compatible with the 12ht bell housing. Mine is a 81 FJ60 and I'm installing a 12ht with a h55f. Can you tell me what cross member you used. was it a late model one piece or the old three piece?

Please post a picture of your motor and transmission from the transmission output looking forward.

I agree that your crossmember is not correct after reading the other post. The late model was a one-piece crossmember.

I can't do that the body is not off the frame but I decided to pull the engine, use the measurements to weld the new frame mounts. I'll have to source a cross member later. I just need to get this truck out of my way and safely support the motor.
Really I'm thinking about selling the whole thing. I Don't have the time to search the globe for obsolete parts. I'm missing all the p/s stuff and not looking forward doing a custom wiring job.
If you don't mind what would this be worth. 81 fj 60 brown on brown 81k org one owner CA truck with brand new 12ht and h55f installed but not s
Finished.

Do you have any pictures? Getting this motor in was not easy. We started with the mounts attached to the engine (the full mount not yet attached to the frame), then put the engine in using both a hoist and a jack on the transfer case. It was a very slow process of lowering the engine while jacking up the transfer case. We did run against the firewall issue, in fact, if I recall we had to pull the engine once to remove all the heat shields. Once we got the mounts sitting on just above the frame, we had to use some straps to ratchet the engine further back so the the trans and stick socket was centered in the well and the trans cross member lined up. This is how we new the engine was in the correct position back to front. We tacked the mounts in then removed the engine to finish welding in the mounts.

In looking at your pictures, if those are not 12HT mounts, the driver side mount will sit below the the to top of the frame.

It's hard to tell with the pictures you have. I would attach the mounts fully to the motor then lower everything into the frame. If you can get your stick in middle of the tunnel and your trans bolted into the crossmember, the the tab on the passenger side mount will sit on the frame and the driver side (with some force) will be in the correct position when it is flat against the inside frame rail. This may be lower than the top of the frame.

Here are some piscs in my build thread. Pages 7 and 8 have pics of the mounts and more links to more info. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/the-life-times-of-shasta-86-fj60-conversion-to-hj60.807198/page-7

Yes I did the same fully assembled lowered it to the trans which was install already. lots of cussing later motor mated to trans pass side mount in correct location with tab on top only using a 2f rubber because the replacement 2h rubber has a alignment tab clocked wrong but even with the extra space from the thinner mount the drs side will not move enough to weld on the frame. I'm just taking out the motor, welding in the mounts as per MANY pics and I'm confidant it's in the early cross member as to why it won't fit. I need to order a new clutch fork and slave anyway.
Funny thing I did notice is my 12ht pass side mount doesn't have a bung for the P/S pump? I wonder if that's the issue? More to come.
