I have a 1982 HJ47 with a 2H diesel......the engine is solid and runs good but at times cuts out....feels like a quick fuel shut off but then it goes again......when it does this there is a clicking sound (like a relay turning on and off) coming from the left side of the dash...…… there is no relay in the glove box.....maybe its the Temp Compensator Adjustable on the outside firewall...….but I don't know what that relay does
Can anyone help me with this,
Thank you

It sounds like the fuel control relay. It controls the edic motor on the side of the engine. It is pretty old at this point. Some have had luck dismantling the relay and refurbishing them. Some are no longer available new. You will get more assistance with this problem in the diesel section.

X2. Listen for an audible click from the fuel control relay when this happens.

Agreed with above.

The Fuel Control Relay is a bit out of the way, to the left of the glove box, tucked up almost behind the A pillar.

Some very good information in FRICKEN EDIC MOTOR! - Kicking in while driving. as well as several links to other good threads on the Fuel Control Relay.
