That may be, but it is a big mistake, because differentiating the LC from the 4Runner is a lot more important than differentiating the LC from the GX.
You’re saying you have better insight than Toyota on some of its most valuable names? The 4Runner will be just fine. Why lose sleep over something so trivial.

They made a mistake with the 200 in the US and that was their prestige brand.
So they make up for it by trying to bring a cheaper Land Cruiser to market and everyone cries about the 4Runner. Who cares. Lol Toyota has plenty of smart people running the ship. I’m sure whatever they come up with for the 4Runner will sell just fine.

Love the hubris during this entire thread from random on the people internet pontificating how one of the biggest companies in the world should operate. It should be a maxim amongst car makers that you do the exact opposite of what enthusiasts on a fringe website say you should do, just as a guiding principle.

Also love this general "not a real Land Cruiser" talk that has accompanied *check notes* all Land Cruisers releases for the past 35 years.

I am excited to see what is unveiled tomorrow.

Hang on to your hats...

Lol, I sleep fine. So break it down for us. What is the LC250 going to be, what price? What is the 4Runner going to be, what price? People going to pay $45k for LC250's in a world with $55k 4Runner TRD Pro's? And you think that is insight on valuable names? Let's wait and see what Toyota actually does.

Here’s what I’m told. LC coming 2024 but it’s going to be a smaller platform not the global LC300. So LX remains the option for full size. Sequoia remains the top trim from Toyota. This leads me to believe it will share underpinnings with what’s rumored about the GX reboot (smaller G wagon type competitor) focused on off-road with a boxy appearance.

This will be great for some as they’ve been clamoring for a LC with less fluff. My question is will they build it in Japan? How much will it cost? Powertrain?
Nice call

Trd pro costs… blah blah blah. Once again I’ll say this Toyota is aware of what their market is. The 4Runner Trd pro also cost $43k in 2015-2018 which which is a 27% increase. Yet the vehicle remained the same. We can start talking about inflation… blah blah blah. We are getting a Land Cruiser in the USA. We will also have a 4Runner. Be happy we get both. Whichever fits your needs will be the one you buy. More choices are good. Even if there is overlap what a time to be a Toyota enthusiast.
