What would make it really amazing - and will never happen sadly - is to base it on the GA-L platform. Longitudinal engine, rear drive based, awd. Basically, make an IS200 or whatever the base model Lexus IS is now in a small SUV form with long travel IFS/IRS. The platform is begging to be used as an SUV. It's what should be under the RX350 IMO. It would do really well in a product like this where it would have potential to be a legitimate mini offroad monster. But in the real world it'll end up as something like a corolla cross with angular styling.
Sounds interesting. In Europe there is surely a market for compact vehicles. Would not work for me, but people love them.

You know I feel this retro phase is nice and all, but I am also looking forward to futuristic designs now going forward.
Hopefully they can focus on that with the LC300 in future facelifts.
It is nice to look back at heritage but also to break the cycle and go forward.
I guess we have been stuck in a mediocrity of soap bar bubble shaped vehicles for a while and the retro fad is a nice change.
I also hope it isn't a lazy excuse not to innovate for the future.
I think this retro phase will be followed with some revolutionary stuff in the next decade (2030s). Exciting times ahead.
I generally agree. As long as CALTY isn't involved. Lol. The stuff out of CALTY lately for North America is not great. The LC300 looks good to me. Simple, relatively conservative styling, but current. The Tundra - ugh. It's not growing on me at all. Sequoia is a bit better, but still not great. The GX550 - I think it's fantastic.

I'm not sure I'd want something that looks like a LC40. Just something that isn't so busy looking. Just refined is good enough for me. I think Ford is probably doing better than anyone else in north america right now. Although the recent Jeep GCs are pretty decent as well. The Wagoneer - hard pass.

I remember reading a while back that Toyota was considering an IFS LC from the time they were developing the 60 series. It never happened until the LC 100 and see where we are today.

I wonder when the next revolutionary Land Cruiser will be.
Which series will get the next revolutionary change of the series? Time till tell ( obviously it won't be the 70 LOL) but yeah..lots of stuff that might have been not possible to meet LC QDR standards during previous developments may be possible in the 2030s...

Wow!!! That is a stripped model…. Looks like it doesn’t even have a radio

Yet another 164-bhp Prado and still not remotely close to the LC250. So no, not the price range for the new LC250.

Have you been around softex? It's better than leather IMO. In a rational world, it would cost more than leather - it's softer and more elastic, lasts longer, requires no maintenance, easier to clean, etc. It does everything leather does - only better.
I have sat in BMW, MB and other vinyl hot sticky sweaty junk. There’s no substitute for leather. I hope the Toyota Prado version will have cloth seats at least

I'm not sure how far down market the LC250 will go. I don't think the LC250 has much in common with the j150 Prado. The LC250 appears to be a reskin LC300 to me. Very different vehicle than the outgoing Prado. I don't think it'll be in that price range. I've never suggested that. My guess is starting about $50k with a turbo 4cyl. $55k with 4cyl hybrid. or high $50's with TTv6. I don't think it'll sell much if they try to start around $60k with a turbo4, even in hybrid form, when the Tundra, Tacoma, and Sequoia all exist in the same market. T6 Hybrid Sequoias start around $60. That's a pretty hard price cap for a smaller, lighter, less powerful model.

I have no idea what the relationship will be in the next generation. There could very well still be base model LC250's that go way down market. They don't all need to be wide body fenders and 67" track width. The body would be easy to narrow to a 63" track width and use smaller lighter running gear - just like the Tacoma is doing on the base models. So there could be a new LC250 trim that is equivalent of the outgoing base model Prado. And we don't know much or anything about the next generation 4Runner. If it is in fact a Tacoma based SUV - it'll probably be the same thing as the LC250, because the LC250 is the equivalent of a tacoma based SUV. They're all mix and match stuff on the same platform. How they distinguish them - I have no idea. Hard to know until we see the full lineup.

How difficult it must have been for you. Do you still use leather belts on your accessory drive systems?

Is that Stout truck as a pickup or compact SUV a concept car or is it going to be made?
Speculation I've been tracking say both the 2024/25 Compact Cruiser 4x4 and Stout Pickup are coming.

They will share some RAV4 elements along with the TNGA-C unibody platform.

It should reveal and launch in 2024, EV for some markets and a likely hybrid as well.

Great info. If it ever occurs to you to ask about EU or EMEA releases, I guess at least one of us would be happy to know.

Probably not that compact. But a BMW X3 has a longer wheelbase than an LC300 and is 10 inches shorter overall. The Defender 110 is the same length overall as a LC300 but has a 119" wheelbase. Doesn't look out of proportion to me for either of those. Even the current 4Runner is 2 inches shorter wheel base and 6 inches shorter body. Wouldn't look out of proportion to keep the same 190" body length with the front axle moved 2" forward.
The spare in the problem. BMW doesn’t give you one and the 110 has it on the door. If it goes under, the wheelbase and length don’t work like those two. Plus, they are crossovers. Neither BMW or LR, nor a dozen other companies or that matter, make a true BOF SUV. Most of Jeep’s lineup are unibody too.

Interesting 4Runner speculation.

So they read my post and made some renders, I see how it is.

I know they are just renders, but I like it. But if the LC250 comes with the 4cyl I think it will be redundant. The LC really needs the V-6 and E-KDSS to distinguish it from the 4Runner.

The 4Runner rendering looks good except for the front clip. I think there's very little chance that they don't keep the signature 4Runner half octagon shape front grill.

If it's that, and shares everything else with the tacoma. And the LC only has the 4cyl. I think the new Land Cruiser has the same fate as the old one in the USA.

Is ithat new render just a Tacoma front, a Gen 5 back and some plastic? They should call it a Tacoma SUV and not a 4Runner.

I have seen better renders like this one:

It’s getting a v6 ;) it’s called a gx550. LC will be down market.
