It’s SavageGeese for me. I do miss the old days of getting the car mags once a month. 10-12 year old me was so excited when that new issue hit the mailbox.
SavageGeese is good. I also watch Alex on Autos and Driven Car Reviews.

That picture of the tail gate looks really suspicious. The edges do not line up cleanly. I’m wondering if this is a tricked out split tail gate.
I don’t think so. It looks very much like the upper glass lifts up, which suggests a liftgate, not a split tailgate.

What are people's experience working with Toyota dealers to get on their radar for ordering new releases like this? Do people put down deposits and get on a formal list? Or is it more informal "call me when they're available to be ordered"? I typically spend as little time in dealerships as possible so I am not familiar with the process.
I never buy the first year, so I can’t tell you. Realize that if you need to be first, you are going to pay for that privilege.

That’s unfortunate. It seems like you can’t be in 4 lo with the center diff unlocked.

Wait, werent you part of the "Choices are Bad" mafia a while back in this thread or do I have you confused with someone else?

The much more knowledgeable people here can better answer if a current 4Rish sized body can go on the Taco – makes sense to me that it could.
It would have to be on a frame with a shortened wheelbase.

You’ve got me confused with someone else. I’m sorry to disappoint you as I’m sure you were eager to start another argument with me.

My 4th gen 4Runner and 200 both separate the locking function of the center diff from the range selector.

I believe on the 5th gen 4Runner Limited, which has the Torsen center diff, that the locking of the center diff is integrated with the range control this way, so if you are in 4 lo that the center diff is locked.

I don’t think so. It looks very much like the upper glass lifts up, which suggests a liftgate, not a split tailgate.

It definitely looks like a split tailgate from the picture but is aligned such that the lower comes down before the upper half lifts. This would explain why they’d still have the glass lift (loading without having to open lower, then upper).

That’s much more complicated than just having the upper overlay the lower (like the 200), so I assume I’m wrong here, but that’s the way the picture looks.

I assume 4lo CDL only means no tight turn assist function? I don't think it'll work very well to lock up one rear wheel with the center diff locked. I've never actually run into issues with having 4Lo only be locked on many vehicles without a center diff. But if I have the diff, I'd like to have the ability to use it in low range. Plus side - this is almost certainly an easy hack. Probably a single wire to interrupt to override it.

Not really but I will point out that a manual transmission/tcase rig would normally provide options

I think it's a plastic full width trim panel that covers where the GX has that wide tail light. So it looks like two body panels when it's really one metal panel and a plastic part that is body color paint across the middle.

It is disappointing to see the wiper on the bottom. There's a reason they moved it to the top - dirt and rocks collect on top and then scratch the window. Even on the old bottom window locations models like the 3rd gen 4Runner it lifted up off the glass and onto the tailgate panel to keep stuff from building up on top of the wiper. I think I'd plan on making a plastic ramp for the wiper arm to climb off the window at its parking position if Toyota doesn't provide one.

Looking back at the GX550 pictures, that would make sense that it’s just a body colored plastic piece.

Honestly, this thing is a very nice vehicle. That will be extremely capable.

What better time to be a Land Cruiser fan?

70 series getting an update for 2024
LC250 debut soon with styling features that just a few years ago we thought would never make it back to an LC.
300 series already available and a great vehicle that also will probably get updated soon.

The LC lineup is going to be feeling very fresh later this year/next year.

The last time it probably was this fresh id say was in 2009/2010

different from the GX ? Looks more like the sequoia screen ?
honestly not sure if this is just some testing equipment or the actual screen, but it looks really big.

I wouldn't be surprised if the interior ends up nicer than the GX.
Toyota lately seems to be stepping up interiors more so than Lexus which oddly enough seems to be slipping more into tier 2 luxury rather than Tier 1 Lexus of old. No idea why but if you notice many new Lexus vehicles, don't feel like they go all out lux wise on the interiors. (LC500 is stunning though)
Yes the GX maybe had to tone it down in favor of the LX but even the LX interior isn't all that honestly.
